The park highlights two of the most active volcanoes in the world.Hawaii Volcanoes National Park dis plates the result of 70 million years of volcanism migration and elevation. Over five centuries before the establishment of the park. It is established that Loihi will emerge from the ocean in another 10,000 years.

Kilauea volcano has erupted lava almost continuous from its east rift zone sense 1983. Over five centuries before the establishment of the park, and offers insights on the birth of the Hawaiian Islands and views of the dramatic volcanic landscapes.Established as Hawaii Volcano National Park in 1916, the landscape of Hawaii Volcanoes has been shaped by the people who have been a part of its history.

Weather at Kilauea's summit (4000 elevation) varies daily and maybe rainy and chilly any time of the year. at a summit of a volcano temperatures may be 12 to 15 degrees,cooler than at sea level.The coastal plain at the end of Chain Craters road,where lava is entering the ocean, is often hot, dry, and windy with the possibility of passing showers.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park was established in August 1, 1916 the 15th National park in a system that now numbers 390 areas.These lava flows have added new land to the

southern shore of Kilauea and covered 8.7 miles of highway with lava as deep as 115 feet (35m).

The setting of Kilauea and Mauna Loa, the park is also a refuge for the island Native plants and animals and a link to its human past. Plants cam become well-established on a lava flow in only 10 years. The park was reopened in 1965. It was the 13th center and was first opened in 1965.

It has been apart of the U.S since 1947. There is 137 employees in the whole National park. It was $5,934,314 about operating the program. There is 1,467,779 visitors in 2007.
