This month, we have another fun meeting planned for November 11. Not only is it time for our annual grading contest (See Page 2), but the prizes for this month’s raffle are an amazing mix of great prizes including 2001 Buffalo Silver Dollar valued at about $150 as the top prize! Also, remember that our last auction of the year is this month so be sure to bring those items you were looking to sell and also be prepared to buy lots of great coins. Thank you to all members who helped with our annual coin show on October 23 at the Van Nuys Masonic Lodge! Thank you as well to all who attended the show and supported our dealers. The show was another great success with terrific public attendance and nearly unanimous positive feedback from our dealers. In addition, our annual gold and silver coin raffle was again successful with strong ticket sales and several happy winners. November’s Program... 5th Annual GCC Coin Grading Contest

This month our program will be another test of your skills at grading coins. Several professionally graded coins will be presented for evaluation. We will then compare our grades with the grades that were given by the professional graders. This is always a fun program to not only test your skills at grading, but to also see a neat variety of coins. Be sure to brush up on your grading standards and to bring your magnifying glass or loupe to the meeting. There will be prizes for as well!

Regular membership dues are $20 annually, but if you sign up through our club your first year will be at a discounted $15 rate! With your membership, you will receive a print subscription to the award winning publication, The California Numismatist, which is edited by Greg Burns. If you do not wish to receive the print subscription to TCN, the NASC offers digital memberships for only $10 per year. The NASC also does a lot of good work to help support area coin clubs, including our Glendale Coin Club. For example, through their annual gold coin drawing, our club was able to earn over $200! If you are not already a member of the American Numismatic Association, now is the perfect time to join! A regular membership in the ANA is a minimum $28. Recently, the ANA provided our club with a limited number of complimentary memberships to the ANA for us to use as we wish. They are available only to those who are not currently members and who have not been members in the last couple of years. Remember that the ANA World’s Fair of Money will be held in Anaheim in August 2016. With your membership in the ANA, you will be able to register for that show in advance and receive free admission. You will also have electronic access to The Numismatist magazine including all back issues! Please consider joining and see Michael Kittle if you would like a membership application.
