Dr. Majmudar is a professor of pathology and gynecology at Emory University and a practicing anatomic pathologist with 54 years experience, as well as a spiritual leader and Hindu priest, who has presided over more than 200 weddings across the country. He brings faith and spirituality to the medical field by comforting patients who are given grave diagnoses. His teaching centers on cultivating not only the skills, but the heart, for medicine. He is a recipient of the Evangeline Papageorge Distinguished Teaching Award and the AnnaLee Boyette Award for Outstanding Support of the Residency Training Program at Emory. Charlotte Wilen was a fierce promoter of women’s rights and racial equality. Volunteering at Grady hospital fueled her dedication to improving prenatal care. Her efforts introduced laws stating no woman in labor may be turned away from an emergency room and banning drive-through deliveries. In 1992, she established The Maternal and Child Health Institute to improve access to quality prenatal care for underserved women. Mrs. Wilen also initiated the first integrated, interfaith youth meeting in the U.S., earning a Parents Magazine Award for Community Service. Mrs. Wilen worked with B'nai B’rith, Jewish Women International, and Junior League of Atlanta and founded Embracing Differences to cure prejudice and discrimination through K-12 education, afterschool programming, and art exhibitions. She received the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services' National Community Leader Award and the Jefferson Foundation Award for Outstanding Public Service.
