An opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse to take on a temporary leadership role as Lead Nurse for Community Nursing Services in East Division for a 6 month period in the first instance.

As well as day to day management responsibility, you will provide professional leadership and direction to District Nurses, Out of Hours/Evening services, Hospital at Home nurses and community based Treatment Room staff within East Division. You will also directly line-manage the Fife wide Tissue Viability Service and contribute to ongoing Fife wide service redesign. You will report to the Acting Community Services Manager, will be professionally supervised by the East Division Head of Nursing, and be part of an active network of Lead Nurses across the Partnership.

The NHS Fife Family Nurse Partnership (FNP) Programme is an evidenced based behaviour change programme designed to support first-time young parents. It is a nurse-delivered, intensive, home-based service aimed at• Improving pregnancy outcomes;• Improving child health and development and future school readiness and achievement; and• Improving parents’ self-sufficiency.The programme is delivered under licence and is based on the theories of human ecology, attachment and self-efficacy, originating from over 35 years of development and three large research trials by Professor David Olds and his team at the University of Colorado USA.

In line with the Scottish Government’s Programme for Government, NHS Fife FNP service requires a third team to deliver a service to all eligible women across Fife and we are recruiting a Family Nurse Supervisor to lead that team.

The Family Nurse Supervisor is responsible for managing the work of the family nurses. This includes providing in depth clinical and professional supervision to the team of family nurses, maintaining the integrity and quality of the programme, overseeing recruitment and engagement of hard to reach pregnant young women, building local relationships and facilitating continual learning and service improvement. In addition they will also hold a small caseload of families to whom they deliver the programme.

We are looking for a forward thinking individual to come and work as part of our Emergency Nurse Practitioner service. The ENP deliver care to our minor injury flow of patients working across both the Emergency Dept at the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy and the Minor Injury Unit at the Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline.

You are invited from suitably qualified and experienced ENP's. Candidates who have successfully completed an accredited Minor Injury, Clinical decision making and Non-medical prescribing course will be considered for this post. Candidates with only accreditation for a minor injury course will be required to complete a specific learning programme prior to progression to a Band 7. During this time you will be paid in accordance with Annex U arrangements for pay and banding of trainees.

You must have good verbal and written communication skills, have the ability to work autonomously, plan and prioritise workloads. You must also be flexible with your shift patterns and be a team player. The Emergency Department is a great learning environment giving many opportunities for learning new skills.

This post will be rotational nights and days. Is full time 37.5 hours, with a requirement for flexible working.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Gastroenterology /Trainee Nurse Endoscopist within the GI team of NHS Fife. These posts would also suit someone previously trained and practising in an endoscopic modality. The nursing team consists of 6 practising Nurse Endoscopists/Clinical Nurse Specialists in Gastroenterology and a Senior Staff Nurse. The team has full time administration support and is fully supported by 5 Consultant Gastroenterologists.

We are looking for individuals with a passion for clinical care, a strong team work ethic and the aspiration to develop skills working as a key member of a senior nurse clinical team.

The posts require education to a degree level and the ability to work across professional boundaries and a commitment to continuous professional development. The GI team are dedicated to the provision of ongoing effective supervision, support and education.

The trainee post will work within the CNS Gastroenterology nursing team and will be required to complete the Endoscopy Knowledge and Skills Framework course at Glasgow Caledonian University and the Non-Medical Prescribing course thereafter.

You will be a first level registered nurse with post registration ward based experience in either acute medical/surgical or admissions and relevant senior nurse experience. Experience of GI nursing is essential within these remits.

These challenging posts require excellent interpersonal and decision making skills, you will be performing independent colonoscopy and / or gastroscopy, undertaking out-patient clinics for patients with Inflammatory Bowel disease, Liver disease and Coeliac disease. Assessing and treating patients via our telephone helpline and Rapid Access clinic. These posts also involve blood monitoring and enteral tube feeding pre-assessment, insertion and initial follow up.

These are permanent full time 37.5hours per week posts based at Victoria Hospital, worked over 5 days. Occasional weekend work may be required to cover the needs of the service and cross site cover may also be required at Queen Margaret Hospital and/or St Andrews Community Hospital.This is initially a training post Band 6/7 Annex 21 2.i.on completion of relevant courses and a period of consolidation of skills.

We are seeking to recruit to this post commencing in July within the Nurse Led Surgical / Orthopaedic Pre-assessment Suite at the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy. This is an opportunity for an experienced senior nurse who should be educated to or working towards a nursing degree. The post will be Monday to Friday over 3-5 days depending on the needs of the service.

The surgical / orthopaedic nurse practitioner is an autonomous practitioner who will support the Advanced Nurse Practitioner, working closely with other Nurse Practitioner colleagues, Consultant Anaesthetists and Surgeons in managing waiting list patients attending for elective surgical and orthopaedic procedures. The nurse practitioner will carry out a comprehensive medical assessment and manage the ongoing medical needs of elective patients to facilitate planned admission for surgery.

The purpose of this role is to assess and then optimise the health of patient’s pre operatively, liaise and plan admission with the surgical / orthopaedic wards and theatre and to commence discharge planning. You will be expected to develop and expand the nurse practitioner role to meet the needs of patients and the service.

Heart, lung and abdominal assessment skills are essential as are 12 lead ECG interpretation skills. Training will be arranged where necessary. Clinical decision making skills and knowledge of the acute surgical / orthopaedic elective patient pathway is desirable. Non-Medical prescribing would be advantageous.

As a Nurse Practitioner you will be committed to continuous professional development and possess excellent communication and organisational skills. As an experienced nurse you will provide strong clinical support to, and work in partnership with the multi disciplinary team.

A new opportunity has arisen for a speech & language therapist to work with a specialist teacher and pupil support assistant to form the ‘DLD Support Team’ in East Fife. (There is a similar team in development in West Fife.) The DLD support team will provide effective support to those who request assistance for children and young people with a diagnosis of DLD in their mainstream schools based on analysis of impact, risk and the child’s current educational context. Decisions will be based on an effective initial conversation with those closest to the child/young person as well as the care aims philosophy.

The therapist will develop new links with the local clusters of speech and language therapists and will also provide advice and support to other therapists in their management of children with DLD. The post will be based in Randolph Wemyss Memorial Hospital, Buckhaven with the majority of the day-to-day work being carried out in primary schools. The SLT, teacher and PSA will have regular opportunities for planning and development meetings. The SLT will be part of the North East geographical cluster of SLTs and links will be made across Fife, especially East Fife.

Applicants for this post can be considered on the basis of a development role, i.e. a skilled and experienced Band 6 therapist who wishes to develop the full range of knowledge and skills required to meet the competencies of the band 7 DLD role over an agreed period of time.

Consideration will also be given to applicants who have identified a ‘job-share’ partner who apply together.

It is essential that the candidate has a strong foundation in assessment, planning and therapy for school-aged children who have receptive and expressive language difficulties. The candidate also needs to demonstrate evidence of effective negotiation skills with children, families and partner agencies. Development in the areas of negotiating, collaborative working, effective conversations as well as enhanced knowledge of DLD and evidence based practice will be essential to moving to the Band 7 position. The team delivers Pain Management Programmes to people with chronic pain across Fife in hospital and leisure centre settings. Whilst the majority of the role will be working in group sessions, supporting some individual patient sessions will be necessary.

NHS Fife has an exciting opportunity for an experienced pharmacist with a background in hospital, primary care or community pharmacy to be part of a multidisciplinary clinical pharmacy team within a range of settings across primary care (including GP practices) and secondary care.

With the current national development of the GP clinical pharmacist role, this post will support GP Practices to undertake a range of roles, including medicines reconciliation, discharge letters, acute and repeat prescription requests, undertaking polypharmacy reviews in care homes, patients’ own homes or in a homely setting. This post has a clinical patient facing role as part of the multidisciplinary team within a range of settings and you will work closely with a senior practice clinical pharmacist.

You should have a sound clinical knowledge, good IT skills and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should ideally have previous experience of working within primary care.

You will have a Masters degree in Pharmacy or equivalent and be on the practising register of the General Pharmaceutical Council. It is essential that you have a relevant post-graduate qualification in clinical pharmacy/ prescribing sciences or be willing to undertake this within an agreed timescale. You will be an independent prescriber (or be willing to undertake this within an agreed timescale). It is desirable that you have completed the Stage 2 vocational training scheme or can demonstrate equivalent experience.

You will be working mainly in either East (Glenrothes/ North East Fife areas) or West Fife (Dunfermline/ areas west of Kirkcaldy) with ability to travel across Fife, if required.

You will join a close-knit team of paediatricians working across both acute (hospital-based) and community settings. The current general paediatric consultant team have special interests in allergy, child protection, diabetes, endocrinology, respiratory, gastroenterology, neurobehavioural paediatrics, rheumatology, neurology and cardiology. You will be encouraged to work closely with specialists in the regional centres, to contribute to audit and research on the unit and to further enhance and promote paediatric training in Fife. This post carries a mandatory on-call commitment to the acute paediatric rota. A separate neonatal rota is in place

The Paediatric and Child Health Services in Fife are delivered across a number of community settings and in a 24 bedded in-patient ward located in the recently built wing of the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. A separate Children’s Out-Patient Department and Ambulatory Care Unit complete the services offered in the hospital. There are around 3000 medical paediatric admissions per annum. Additional out-patients services are offered at the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline.

All junior medical posts in Fife are fully accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

Old Age Psychiatry in Fife is currently undergoing an exciting period of service development and all of the posts available offer the opportunity to be involved with determining the shape of mental health care for Older Adults in the region for the future.

Post A is a full time Old Age Psychiatry sector posts, based in West Fife available due to retirement. Inpatient beds are at Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline.
