ollowing a series of most successful annual ICIIS conferences, the Fourth International Conference on Industrial and Information Systems was held Fsuccessful in the Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka from

28 -31 December, 2009. With the vision “To promote today’s innovative international research and source the development of tomorrow’s industry”, under the theme “Innovative technologies for tomorrow’s Industry”, the conference attracted good international and local participation, which provided an inspiring atmosphere for the researchers to share their experience and have constructive dialogs in their fields.

1. Plenary Session: Smart Grids and Future Power Systems

The plenary session talks addressed the revolutionary changes taking place in the energy sector of the world, the role of renewable energy industries in the carbon constrained world, cyber security issues associated with electric power grids having high penetration of Information and Communication Technology and role of power electronic in future power systems.

7.1. Guided tour to Royal Botanical Garden, Peradeniya, Sri Lanka

Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens, the finest of its kind in Asia, the largest of the three botanical gardens in the island. In the Mediterranean climate of Kandy, the gateway to the central highlands, the Gardens were bounded on three sides by a loop of river Mahaweli, and by the prestigious University of Peradeniya.

Guided tours were arranged for the participants of ICIIS2009, in each day after the evening sessions.

7.2. Guided tour to Dambulla Temple, Dabmulla, Sri Lanka.

Dambulla cave temple is situated in the central part of the country, which is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. There are more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding area, with over 5 caves, which contain statues and frescos related to Lord Buddha and his life.

Participants of ICIIS2009 were taken to witness this prestigious World Heritage Site, during the last day of the event.
