Shavuot (Pentecost) is celebrated on the 50thday after the first normal Sabbathwithin the seven days of the Feast of Unleavened Bread. This was the t ime Israelafter Israel left Egypt, on their way to Mount Sinai, where they would receive the TenCommandments. The people camped at the foot of the mountain where theycleansed themselves for two days before they heard the Voice of YHVH from theMountain. This Feast is about meeting with YHVH at the mountain. The Feast is toCelebrated as a Sabbath, and no work is to be performed to make it profane (as anormal day doing your own pleasures).

In the third month after the Israelites left Egypt (Mitzrayim - bondage), they arrived inthe Sinai desert and camped opposite Mount Sinai.

Moses was then told by Elohim to gather the Israelites together to receive the Torah(Exodus 19:1-8). The Israelites answered, "All that YHVH has spoken we will do!"In Hebrew, it is Na'aseh V'Nishmah, which means, "We agree to do even before wehave heard."

YHVH gave the Israelites two days to cleanse themselves, wash their clothes, andprepare to receive the Torah on the third day. From early morning, dense clouds

covered the peak of the mountain. Thunder and lightning were frequently seen andheard. The sound of the shofar(ram's horn) became very strong, and the top of themountain was enveloped in fire and smoke. The Israelites at the foot of Mount Sinaistood in great awe (Exodus 19:9-19). Moses then went up alone on the mountain,and as he neared the top, a mighty voice announced the Ten Commandments(Exodus 19:20-25; 20:1-21).

The Ten Commandments or Ten Words are the Contractual words that Israel agreedto so that they could become the Wife of Elohim. This was the first part of the Hebrewmarriage called the ketubah that relates to the establishment of the marriagecontract. The second part of the marriage is called the gathering where the Groomwill come and take His Bride after He prepared a house for them. The Covenantmade with their father Abraham was the agreement to establish the promise

and this agreement is the first step of fulfilment of that Marriage Covenant.Wewill later see further fulfilment of the Covenant promises YHVH made to Abrahamuntil ALL has been fulfilled and His Plan comes into completion at the SecondComing of Messiah, where He will come to collect His Bride.

Anything we see in the Brit Chadasha (NT) needs to be confirmedin the TaNaK (OT) to support its validity. The principle of receivingspiritual ability through gifts is also known as receiving an anointing.This anointing gives one the ability to do something that you couldnot have done before. There are examples of people in the TaNaK

who YHVH anointed for a specific purpose. For example Moses,whom YHVH anointed that enabled him to be the leader of theIsraelites and to lead them from Egypt to the Promised Land. YHVHalso took from the Spirit He gave Moses and put it in the Elders toenable them to rule the people with him.

On Pentecost (Shavuot) Peter preached and about three thousand people gladlyreceived the message and believed in the Messiah [Acts 2:41] and the curse wasreversed by three thousand people who received life.

The Torah is holy and good, but it cannot secure life without the testimony of Yshuaand the receiving of His Spirit Who writes YHVHs Torah on our hearts.

The Spirit did not replace the Torah but WROTE THE TORAH IN THE HEARTS ofYHVHs people, those who accepted Yshua as Savior, so that they can WALK IN

HIS WAYS, as stipulated in the Torah. [Heb 8:10, Heb 10:16]. The outpouring of theSpirit on Shavuot (Pentecost) confirmed and fulfilled this prophecy and this Festivalthat concluded the Work of the Messiah during His First Coming.

Yshua, during His last 40 days, presented Himself to many and commanded HisDisciples to stay in Jerusalem where they are to receive the baptism of he Holy Spiriton the day of Shavuot.

The word for wind is Ruach in Hebrew and that is the Hebrew name of YHVHs Spirit

Ruach HaKodesh or Holy Spirit. Tongues is the Hebrew word lashone thatmeans tongue, speech, flame of fire. The letter shin even looks like a flame offire and has the meaning if fire and represents YHVHs Spirit as well. YHVHs Spiritcame on them in the form of tongues of fire and then they began to speak in othertongues or languages. This was a physical sign that they have been filled with theSpirit of YHVH.

Receiving His Spirit (Torah on your heart) is your engagement ring to the Messiah.

We are YHVH purchased possession and He bought us with His Blood. The HolySpirit is His Gift to us so that we can know that we belong to Him just as you wouldgive and engagement ring to your bride to be, as a sign to her and to others that shebelongs to you. What does it mean when I am filled with His Spirit?

YHVH will empower you through the Gifts of His Spirit that will enable you to performcertain spiritual duties, which you could not have done before. Lets look at the Giftsof the Spirit to see what it entails and how YHVH equips His Body.

We have seen how YHVH Anointed people in the time ofMoses, which enabled them to lead and serve the peopleand perform all the tasks required in the Tabernacle. Wehave learned from Scripture that we are the Temple ofYHVH as well as His Priesthood, and this can onlyhappen through the Anointing of His Holy Spirit, RuachHaKodesh.

The Anointing of YHVH is distributed to all who believe through the Gifts of the Spirit.Is there a difference between having the Spirit and having the Gifts of the Spirit? Yes,

when you were baptised YHVH gave you His Spirit and His Spirit wrote theCommandments on your heart, which is part of the rebirth process. It is His Spiritthat causes you to want to learn more of Him and Who helps you to overcome sin.You will receive the Gifts of the Spirit at a later stage when you are ready to move tothe next level of service in His Kingdom. This is what the Feast of Shavuot orPentecost is all about; the receiving of the Gifts of YHVHs Spirit to enable believersand to equip them for the work in YHVHs Kingdom.

We see the following Gifts of the Spirit listed in Romans and in 1 Corinthians:

1. Apostles2. Prophets/ Prophecy3. Evangelists4. Shepherds/ Leading (rule) /Governing/ Leading/Administration5. Teachers/ Teaching6. Minister (serving), Helpers / Encouraging, (comfort, pray), Show mercy

(compassion), Sharing & distributing to the needs (impart, giving in sincerity),Hospitality

7. Word of Wisdom8. Word of Knowledge9. Faith (conviction, religious truth, prayer)10. Healing / Signs and wonders /Workers of Miracles (prayer)11. Discerning of spirits12. Tongues /Interpretation of tongues

The first three Gifts are used to reach the nations through missionary work whereYHVH spread the Gospel message to unsaved people in the world. Shepherds andTeachers are there to build up the Body of those who already believe. They look afterthe peoples spiritual health and make sure that everybody is equipped with the

foundational truth and doctrine.The last seven Gifts are to serve the Body and tolook after the physical needs of the believers. It is done through encouragement,support, praying for needs or for a sickness, directing in wisdom in what to do in asituation, or edifying through faith. Discerning of spirits of new people who enter toprotect the well being of the fellowship and ministering through tongues andinterpretation to set people free from bondage. Each one is given the manifestationof the Spirit for profiting the body of Messiah and equipping the saints to enable themto do and continue the work of the Messiah. Messiah means Anointed One and weare anointed with the Spirit of YHVH to do the same work as Yshua did when Hewalked the earth.

To be able to walk in Holiness to become Like Him: The spirit is known as theHoly Spirit. This means that He is the Spirit that makes us Holy. To be Holy is to beSet Apart and to build His People up in unity so that His fullness can be in them.

To become like Yshua.

To do good or to "overcome evil with good". We are not able to overcomeevil if we are not filled by the Set-apart Spirit.

To edify and build up the body of Messiah and to attend to the needs of theHoly ones.

To show kindness to unbelievers.

Unify the Body.

To serve the Body

To represent the fullness of Yshua the Messiah

We see that the Gifts of the Spirit are for uplifting of the Body of Messiah, to receiveeverybody in love and to grow together in the knowledge, truth and unity in faith, sothat they will function effectively.

YHVHs Spirit will empower us to spread the Word all over the earth and to standstrong against all the evil in this world. We must not shelter ourselves from the world,but rather go into the world, led by the Holy Spirit.

Can I choose which Gift I want to receive from the Holy Spirit?

Only YHVH will decide which Gift He wants to bless you with so that He candistribute it evenly amongst His people within an Assembly. Therefore, we should notbe jealous of one anothers spiritual gifts, because we are all receiving it from ourFather as He pleases.

Does everybody receive YHVHs Gifts and are there certainrequirements for receiving the Gifts of the Spirit?

Do you want His Spirit and His Gifts? If yes, then the first step is to obey Him through

obeying His Commandments? YHVH only gives the fullness of His Spirit to thosewho obey Him and whom He can trust with His Gifts. People who say that have theSpirit of YHVH but refuse to acknowledge His Commandments, have another spiritbecause His Spirit will never go against His Commandmentsbecause He writes His Commandments in our heart through HisSpirit [Jer 31: 31-33].

YHVH can only fill you in relation to how empty or hungry youare.

Did you empty yourself from your own will and lusts to make room for His Spirit? Hewants your total submission and obedience to fully use you. Are you really hungryand thirsty for the fullness of Him, and are you ready to go to the next level of faithand relationship with Him? Ask YHVH to break your will so that you can be empty toreceive 100% of Him.

Do introspection and analyse your fruit. In your relationship with Him, when you pray,are your prayers self centred and basically sound like a shopping list? If it is allabout Him and not about you, then you are truly empty and ready for His fullness.Ask for the fruit of YHVHs Spirit to manifest in your life, submit your will to His Willand make yourself available so that He can f ill you and use you.

We see clearly what the fruit of the Spirit is and what to look fordiscerning the sprits. Consider this scenario: People line up forthe Paster to pray for them and then they slay in the spirit, fall tothe ground, some crying, some laughing and some making animalnoises.Is barking like a dog, laughing and shaking uncontrollably,rolling on the ground drunk, part of the fruits of YHVHs Spirit? No,clearly not! His Spirit produces self-control, order and peace.

We are to have control over our bodies at all times, like the Spiritdirects, and not get drunk with wine or be under the influence ofany spirit causing spiritual drunkenness and confusion. YHVH is the God of orderand Satan is the god of chaos and confusion. Satan keeps people busy with fleshlythings that produce false manifestations in the church, claiming it to be from the HolySpirit.

Be aware of these things and avoid having anything to do with it because the peoplewho promote these things speak against YHVHs Word and they entertain peoplewith nice doctrines that tickle the ear and fleshly spiritual manifestations.

The laughing anointing was started by RodneyHoward Browne in the 1990s. This anointingtook fire in America and was known as theToronto Blessing". Uncontrollable laughing andweird manifestations was at the order of the day.We will now look a few quotes from RodneyHoward Browne to test his fruits and the spirit hepromotes:

One of the recent upcoming revival preachers is ToddBentley who will not only shock you with his appearance, butalso his methods; violence in The Name of God. Bentleygoes down the line of people to pray for them releasing theanointing and yelling Boom-Ba as each person falls to theground. He is covered in tattoos and claims it to beChristian art

Here are a few quotes from the man in question:

And I'm thinking, God, why is not the power of God

moving? He said, "Because you haven't kicked that

woman in the face." (audience laughter)

And there is this older lady worshipping right in front of

the platform. (audience laughter) And the Holy Spirit

spoke to me--the gift of faith came on me--He said, "Kick

her in the face with your biker-boot." (audience laughter)

I inched closer and I went like this [Todd Bentley performs a kick with his

right leg and yells] BAM! (audience laughter) And just as my boot made

contact with her nose, she fell under the power of God.

The Lord told me that this anointing would be the

most contagious anointing in my ministry (He then

bends over and emits a loud and prolonged scream,

which I imagine is the same sound someone would

make should a knife be stuck in their gut)

Bentley claims that "God" told him to: run and knock aperson to the ground; "Ground and pound;" choke a

man; run and hit a man so hard "it drove him back several feet! He hit theground and his tooth popped right out of his mouth!" (audience laughter)

Bentley shakes uncontrollably while yelling and laughing. Is this form the Spirit ofYHVH or from another spirit? Can it be the kundalini spirit?

For thousands of years the manifestations of an awakenedkundalini among people of other religions has been exactly thesame as the results of being Slain in The Spirit in so calledChristian meetings. Such as involuntary and spasmodic bodymovements and postures; vibrating sensations; shaking; abnormalbreathing patterns; hot and cold sensations, unusual or extremes

Is he a false prophet/teacher? Look at his fruits and decide. You will know a falseprophet the moment he opens his mouth and speak things contrary to Scripture.

Do not trust them, do not go to their meetings, do not let them lay hands on you orpray for you because that is how this false spirit is transferred into many believersthat make them spiritually blind for the truth. John called this spirit the spirit of theAntimessiah.

On the other side of the coin we have the Gifts of YHVHs Spirit that is real, butsupernatural in nature and some may think it is not of Him, especially with thecounterfeit false manifestations and gifts going around today.

We should embrace these gifts with an attitude of brotherly love, true love withoutbeing a hypocrite, be tender hearted and appreciate one another. Serving the Masterwith passion and not being lazy or idol in duty. Giving preference to your brother orsister, regarding them higher as yourself. Seek unity and strive to be of one mind in

all doctrine and knowledge. Do not be proud and think that you have all the wisdomin the world, rather respect one anothers opinion. Strive towards peace and ifsomeone do something bad to you or offend you, forgive and act in the opposite spiritof kindness. This is the environment where YHVHs Gifts will flow and where you willsee the powerful presence of YHVH at work just like in the first century Assembly.Without these characteristics YHVHs Spirit will be quenched and His Spirit will notwork.
