www.larnedumc.org 1 The Evangel August 2017 Larned & Garfield United Methodist Churches Note from the Pastor As we seek to reach out to our community, and to reach people for Jesus Christ there seems to be a constant call for people to help. It is a call that comes with an invitation to give our lives to Christ. It is a reminder that Christs call was for us to follow his example in service. For some this means by wait- ing on people through the food pantry or the Budget shop; for others that means leading a bible study or helping with our kids and youth, and yet others that means serving in leadership. Answering the invitation and call of Christ is so important because in the giving of ourselves to his service we get the opportunity to see him face to face. We also get to witness to others how Christs love for us has impacted our life - not always by our words but by our willingness to give some of your time to his service. It can seem like a quaint thought, but when we with the hope of Christ in our hearts give in whatever way we can to build the community of faith we provide a space where someone else will see Christ. That might be in see- ing the difference serving makes in our lives or by us being willing to be part of a ministry that welcomes them into a relations with us and Christ. There is no getting around that Christs invitation to us includes a call to service, and the truth has always been the same when we serve with our whole hearts we bring glory to God. 1Peter 4:10-11. “10 Each of you has received a gift to use to serve others. Be good serv- ants of Gods various gifts of grace. 11 Anyone who speaks should speak words from God. Anyone who serves should serve with the strength God gives so that in everything God will be praised through Jesus Christ. Power and glory belong to him forever and ever. Larned & Garfield United Methodist Churches

Note from the Pastor

As we seek to reach out to our community, and to reach people for Jesus Christ there seems to be a constant call for people to help. It is a call that comes with an invitation to give our lives to Christ. It is a reminder that Christ’s call was for us to follow his example in service. For some this means by wait-ing on people through the food pantry or the Budget shop; for others that means leading a bible study or helping with our kids and youth, and yet others that means serving in leadership. Answering the invitation and call of Christ is so important because in the giving of ourselves to his service we get the opportunity to see him face to face. We also get to witness to others how Christ’s love for us has impacted our life - not always by our words but by our willingness to give some of your time to his service. It can seem like a quaint thought, but when we with the hope of Christ in our hearts give in whatever way we can to build the community of faith we

provide a space where someone else will see Christ. That might be in see-ing the difference serving makes in our lives or by us being willing to be part of a ministry that welcomes them into a relations with us and Christ. There is no getting around that Christ’s invitation to us includes a call to service, and the truth has always been the same when we serve with our whole hearts we bring glory to God. 1Peter 4:10-11. “10 Each of you has received a gift to use to serve others. Be good serv-ants of God’s various gifts of grace. 11 Anyone who speaks should speak words from God. Anyone who serves should serve with the strength God gives so that in everything God will be praised through Jesus Christ. Power and glory belong to him forever and ever. Amen.”

Wow how time flies when we are having fun. With the heat it may be a real chore. I hope that all of you have stayed safe in the heat. I know some of us have to work outside and it is a tough job. So prayers for you that have to be outside and THANK you for the job that you do. God bless you. With wheat harvest behind us and now praying for rain for the other crops we hope that the Good Lord blesses us with the rain. Can you believe it is time for school to start already?? Well it is right around the corner also. .Whew. So Okay, I am going to pray

for our children to get the mind set for school, the teachers to get their rooms set and ready and for the parents to be set for all the activities that will come up. God bless you all. I know some of the separation can be difficult for the parents and the children also. So be tough, hopefully it won’t last to awful long. Alright, pray for all of our sick folks and don’t forget to check on your older folks and make sure they are safe in the heat. Till we meet again, Thank you for all that you do and God bless you all.
