EDITOR'S CORNER

By Rob P a n u s k a Waseca Lakeside Club

What a great Fall we have had; it's about time, don't you agree?? I have always felt that Fall is the best time of year. Where have all the golfers gone?? Our course has been very quiet. I guess no more than other years, but with the warm dry weather I sure thought that more people would be out playing. I mentioned last month that we are upgrading our drainage system. I had hoped to be able to have an article for you this month; however this project just keeps going and going and going. The more we dig the more problems we find to fix. Thank goodness the weather has cooperat-ed so well. I will have the article in the December/Janaury issue. Now there's a frightening thought, January will be here before we know it and we'll be tucked away in our shops doing budgets and equipment work.

* *

We had a good crowd of superintendents who braved the cold and wind for the last golf outing of the year at the Les Bolstad University of Minnesota Golf Course on Oc-tober 6. Look for pictures and more in this issue. Thanks to Scott Turtinen for the article and pictures from the day.

I received a call from our president Fred Taylor the other night. He was trying to decide if this was his last president's message for Hole Notes. After some discussion we both agreed that it was. Thanks, Fred for all your ef-forts and dedication to the MGCSA; it has been a real pleas-ure to work with you. Our next issue will come out in early January with a new set of officers and several new direc-tors. Please take the time to read over the profiles of the candidates running for the various positions and be sure to vote at the annual meeting on December 10 at 5:00 p.m. during the MTGF Turf Conference.

Thank you for your time, have a safe holiday season. I'll see you at the MTGF Turf Conference & Show in early December. Until next month. -Rob Panuska Editor
