SEE SOMETHING SAY SOMETHING
April is #AlcoholAwarenessMonth!
Use this as an opportunity to talk to your children about the
dangers of underage drinking.
For tips on starting the conversation, visit

Do you live or work in an ideal location for a lawn sign? We
are currently looking for places to put our "Talk. They Hear
You" lawn signs during the month of April.

Infants of the Spring
9th Grade English Field Trip to see Infants of the Spring by Harlem Re-naissance Writer, Wallace Thurman and adapted and directed by Ifa Bayeza. The story takes place in 1920s Harlem in the midst of the Harlem Re-naissance. This was a time when there was a rebirth of all arts among African Americans including painters, writers and musicians. The cen-ter for this flourishing cultural rebirth occurred in Harlem, the central black community in New York City. The story is a satire, which re-volves around Nigeratti Manor of Harlem, a place where all the promi-nent artists of the African American scene meet. There are characters in the story that mirror many of the most prominent artists of this movement. The original novel was published in the early 1930s, just two years be-fore the impoverished Wallace Thurman died at the young age of 32 from tuberculosis. Students overwhelmingly enjoyed the play!
After the performance the actors came on stage along with the director to speak about their experience playing each part and making the pro-duction.
Many actors said they hoped that the play sparked conversations about race, stereotypes, history.
Many students expressed that they felt that they learned and grew as a result of watching the play, and seeing part of the campus of the Uni-versity of Massachusetts.

The EHS Gender Sexuality Alliance (GSA) will be in the NO-
HO Pride Parade on Saturday, May 5. This event happens
rain or shine. If teachers, staff or parents are interested in
marching with the GSA, please let Mrs. Soverow know.
The pond committee is once again organizing the city wide clean up day. This year they are introducing high-tech data gathering using an app called Litterati. We encourage students and their families to volunteer for this commu-nity-building event which will be held on Sat. May 5th from 8 - Noon. They are happy to provide community service acknowledgement if needed. Here is more information on Litterati and how to use it. It’s really sim-ple. Log onto the app. Before you pick up a piece of litter (plastic bot-tle, straw, coffee cup, McDonalds wrapper, etc. just snap a photo, ap-ply a hashtag, (#McDonalds wrapper, #Soda Can, etc.) and hit up-load. The app geo tags the location and specific type of litter that’s being picked up. The data is logged by Litterati and a map of our lo-cal community shows what and where common areas of litter are lo-cated. The data will be used to help change behavior, notify any local businesses that this is happening near their shops and possibly take it to the next level of becoming a “Keep America Beautiful” affiliate city.

Slope Fields
AP Calculus
The AP Calculus classes worked through a “slope fields matching” activity that pulled from many previous topics in the course. Students needed to match graphs with equations
and descriptions. This week the students are also working with differential equations. The countdown to the AP exam is on!
