“Seeking Christ With Others While Sharing The Christ Within UsSeeking Christ With Others While Sharing The Christ Within UsSeeking Christ With Others While Sharing The Christ Within UsSeeking Christ With Others While Sharing The Christ Within Us ”
From the Rector
This past Sunday June 17, we at the Church of the Holy Spirit had our first influx of Sunday/Summer
visitors share worship with us. Each of the two services had 35 people join us in prayer, and I must say there
were plenty of smiles to go around. Our worship typically has its share of smiles, but this Sunday they were
more abundant. I went out of my way to welcome a multigenerational family of more than 10 people (hard
to get the number straight as the little ones were very active and kept moving about- to the delight of the
priest and many of our parishioners). I thought they were new faces to us, only
to learn that the family has had the tradition of worshiping with Holy Spirit for
the past 35 years and that I was the new face to them.
A special gift to us was that our wonderful gal, Sam Domangue joined us along
with Harris, Alex and Desi. It truly is a blessing to have them share in our
celebration of the Eucharist – which is all about, THANKSGIVING.
I have about one month of Worcester County Health Department work under
my belt and have attended multiple trainings as well as over 30 hours staring as a computer screen reviewing
policy and procedures. Now that I am as trained–up more than my noggin will hold, I will begin to work
with clients this week. I would appreciate prayers for me and those I will serve.
I want you to know that on two occasions our vestry and therefore our parish family has stepped up to
provide assistance to our (Mother-Church) St. Paul’s by the Sea. We have offered use of our facilities to
both the Red Doors and Shepherd's Crook outreach ministries. They were very grateful for our offer of
assistance but in both instances other opportunities became available and our space was not needed. Of
great importance and witness to our commitment to outreach ministry is our willingness to offer assistance,
when we can. I want you to know that your Officers and Vestry members take their commitment to the
Gospel of Jesus the Christ and the Church of the Holy Spirit as a sacred oath. For that, Thanks Be To God!
I look forward to sharing a wonderful summer with my Ocean City Parish Family. I would love to see many
of you share your gifts, abilities and presence in the three parish Fun-Raisers and Fund-Raisers scheduled
for the coming months. Your support is critical to our Mission: “Seeking Christ With Others While Sharing
The Christ Within Us”.
May this summer be a time of refreshment as well as a time of recreation. May we remember our
commitment to Love and Serve the Lord, loving our God and treating all as our Sisters and Brothers.
In God’s Peace,
Father Rushton

Church of the Holy Spirit – Episcopal Church Women (ECW)
The ECW delivered items collected by church members to the Berlin Nursing Home for the men and women to
celebrate Mother's Day and Father's Day. Thank you to everyone who was able to donate socks and blankets.
These items are always much appreciated.
The ECW had a gathering at the Ropewalk in Ocean City for fellowship, fun and good food on June 19. Our
meetings are typically business oriented so it is always nice to have time to socialize and have some laughs!! (see
pictures on page 5)
The next event for the ECW will be the indoor yard sale on August 25 from 7am-Noon. Items are being collected
until then excluding electronics and clothing. They can be placed in the youth classroom.
The ECW will resume meeting in September (date to be announced). We are looking for new leadership. If you
are interested please see Monica or Diane. We encourage all women to consider joining the group. We focus on
outreach activities and like to have fun as we do this. We welcome members to be part of the group even if you are
not able to attend all the meetings.
On November 3, Bishop Santosh Marray will be having a Woman's Retreat at Church of the Holy Spirit. We will
be hosting women from other churches in the Diocese. More information to be provided as the date gets closer.
Have a safe and happy summer!!
