Program ObjectivesThis one-day multi-disciplinary conference is aimed at medical care providers involved in the care of patients suffering from the ravages of critical limb ischemia and diabetic foot complications with a focus on amputation prevention and improving patient outcomes. Through didactic sessions, our nationally recognized faculty will report on current clinical practice, new technologies and the evolving standards of care of these challenging and complex patients. Attendee participation and interaction will be emphasized with Q and A sessions, case presentations and hands-on workshops.

This course is directed to physicians including vascular surgeons, interventionalists, podiatrists, wound care providers, diabetologists, and other providers including residents, fellows, nurses, nurse practitioners and physician/medical assistants interested in expanding their knowledge of limb preservation.

At the conclusion of this seminar, participants will be able to:

• Identify patients at greatest risk for the development of critical limb ischemia (CLI) and diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) and accurately diagnose CLI and DFU.

• Determine which patients with peripheral artery disease or lower extremity wounds require a lower extremity arterial revascularization procedure.

• Describe the role of various open surgical and endovascular revascularization techniques in pateints with CLI and DFU.

• Implement appropriate wound care treatments for patients with CLI and DFU.

• Describe the role of various non-surgical and surgical offloading techniques for patients with CLI, DFU and Charcot foot deformities.

• Determine when patients have osteomyelitis and how to refer them for treatment.

• Identify the components necessary to build a multidisciplinary limb preservation program.
