The Devil Made Me Do It Nov. 11th The 1980’s were a great decade. You could dial up your local Blockbuster on a rotary phone to ask if they could hold a copy of your favorite movie on VHS. Unfortunately, it was also a time when people became obsessed with Satan. In particular, a young man named Sean Sellers devoted his life to the destruction of all things Christian. On March 5, 1986 he killed his parents. At his trial, his lawyers told the jury that he had been brainwashed by his devotion to the Occult. Later, Sean would be diagnosed with multiple personality disorder. While he was in jail, he renounced his old ways and gave his life to Christ. It is sometimes easy to forget that we have power over our enemy. In the words of Dr. David Jeremiah, “Instead of blaming Satan, defeat him. He has no answer to sincere repentance and confession. He has no answer to the blood of Jesus Christ. When faced with the power of the cross, Satan is powerless.” “If anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous,” 1 John 2:1. Our Adversary is no match for our Advocate.
