YOUR CHURCH
FROM: The Finance Committee of Christ Church Cathedral
"The Cathedral needs some $15,000.00 weekly to remain solvent and to con-
tribute its share to the overall Diocese. We are receiving an income from
envelopes, open collection and other gifts totaling just under $13,000.00
weekly and it is simply not enough to cover all expenses and obliga-
tions. Your tithes and offerings are of critical importance to the operation
of the Cathedral and the Anglican Diocese as a whole.
The Cathedral needs your help! By consistently making your weekly contri-
bution, it will help the Cathedral plan its expenses and cash flow better, so
we encourage all members to be faithful in your financial support. Of
course, whenever you can increase your level of contribution it will help to
close the funding gap and offset any shortfalls from week to week. We look
forward to your continued support."
CATHEDRAL HOUSE: We Are Getting There!!
Please take the time to check The Thermometer for The Fundraising for
Cathedral House. We have reached the $900,000.00 mark – we therefore
need only $100,000.00 to complete the payment for Cathedral House.
Please continue to support on this last amount.

Tenth Sunday After Pentecost: O God, the protector of all who trust in you,
without whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy: Increase and multiply upon us
your mercy; that, with you as our ruler and guide, we may so pass through
things temporal, that we lose not the things eternal; through Jesus Christ our
Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and
ever. Amen.
(9:00 a.m.) Mary and Martha of Bethany - O God, heavenly Father , whose
Son Jesus Christ enjoyed rest and refreshment in the home of Mary and Martha
of Bethany: Give us the will to love you, open our hearts to hear you, and
strengthen our hands to serve you in others for his sake; who lives and reigns
with you and the Holy Ghost, now and forever. Amen.
(9:00 a.m.) Prayer of the Altar Guild - Almighty God, we give you thanks
that you provide for the work of your church through the various gifts of the
members of this Altar Guild. Bless us, O God, with a reverent sense of your
presence as we recognize and act upon every opportunity for service, that in all
our doings we may be directed with your gracious favour. And we ask Heaven-
ly Father, that you guide diversity by one spirit and that our thoughts, words,
and deeds may be for the common good of your church, through your son Jesus
Christ Our Lord. Amen.
Prayer for the Ministry of Intentional Discipleship: Heavenly Father , we
thank you that you have awakened your church to hear again the call of our
Saviour Jesus Christ to come to him and learn from him. Grant that as we say
‘yes’ to his call to discipleship, your Holy Spirit will enable us so completely to
commit all the areas of our lives to his service, that in our personal, family and
church lives, our work, recreational and social lives, we would act as Jesus
would have acted if he were in our place; in his name for his sake we pray.
Amen.

“Give it to the people and let them eat.” But his servant said, “How can I set this
before a hundred people?” So he repeated, “Give it to the people and let them eat,
for thus says the LORD, ‘They shall eat and have some left.’” He set it before them,
they ate, and had some left, according to the word of the LORD.

10 All your works praise you, O LORD, *and your faithful servants bless you.
11 They make known the glory of your kingdom *and speak of your power;
12 That the peoples may know of your power *and the glorious splendour of your
kingdom.
13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom; *your dominion endures throughout
all ages.
14 The LORD is faithful in all his words *and merciful in all his deeds.
15 The LORD upholds all those who fall; *he lifts up those who are bowed down.
16 The eyes of all wait upon you, O LORD, *and you give them their food in due
season.
17 You open wide your hand *and satisfy the needs of every living creature.
18 The LORD is righteous in all his ways *and loving in all his works.
19 The LORD is near to those who call upon him, *to all who call upon him faith-

The Epistle
Reader: A reading from the Word of God written in Ephesians 3:14-21
I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth
takes its name. I pray that, according to the riches of his glory, he may grant that
you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through his Spirit, and
that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and
grounded in love. I pray that you may have the power to comprehend, with all the
saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of
Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of
God. Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abun-

dantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the church
and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Jesus went to the other side of the Sea of Galilee, also called the Sea of Tiberi-
as. A large crowd kept following him, because they saw the signs that he was
doing for the sick. Jesus went up the mountain and sat down there with his dis-
ciples. Now the Passover, the festival of the Jews, was near. When he looked up
and saw a large crowd coming toward him, Jesus said to Philip, “Where are we
to buy bread for these people to eat?” He said this to test him, for he himself
knew what he was going to do. Philip answered him, “Six months’ wages
would not buy enough bread for each of them to get a little.” One of his disci-
ples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him, “There is a boy here who has
five barley loaves and two fish. But what are they among so many people?”
Jesus said, “Make the people sit down.” Now there was a great deal of grass in
the place; so they sat down, about five thousand in all. Then Jesus took the
loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were
seated; so also the fish, as much as they wanted. When they were satisfied, he
told his disciples, “Gather up the fragments left over, so that nothing may be
lost.” So they gathered them up, and from the fragments of the five barley
loaves, left by those who had eaten, they filled twelve baskets. When the people
saw the sign that he had done, they began to say, “This is indeed the prophet
who is to come into the world.” When Jesus realized that they were about to
come and take him by force to make him king, he withdrew again to the moun-
tain by himself. When evening came, his disciples went down to the sea, got
into a boat, and started across the sea to Capernaum. It was now dark, and Jesus
had not yet come to them. The sea became rough because a strong wind was
blowing. When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walk-
ing on the sea and coming near the boat, and they were terrified. But he said to
them, “It is I; do not be afraid.” Then they wanted to take him into the boat, and
immediately the boat reached the land toward which they were going.

congregation to the Altar Guild, a ministry to which they are
called.

The Dean: Will you faithfully and reverently execute the duties of your
ministry to the honour of God, and the benefit of the
members of this congregation?

The Dean: Let us pray (Silence)
O God, you accepted the service of Levites in your temple, and your Son was
pleased to accept the loving service of his friends: Bless the ministry of these
persons and give them grace, that they, caring for the vessels and vestments of
your worship and the adornment of your sanctuary, may make the place of your
presence glorious; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

A Message from Mrs. Sandra Collie
President - Christ Church Cathedral Altar Guild
It is my privilege to welcome members of the New Providence Altar Guilds, who
are visiting with us today, in celebration of our 26th anniversary. We are grateful
for your support and presence.
Our Liturgy depends on this hidden network of preparation by the members that
goes on behind the scenes. The Guild members are reminded continually of the
meaning and the impact of what they do. Members of the Guild are ministers of
the Liturgy, worship space and are the priests’ liturgical partners that make the
worship life of the parish run smoothly.
There are four (4) new members that will be installed and receive their Altar
Guild pin. We give thanks that they have accepted the invitation to join this min-
istry. The following persons will be pinned today: Ms. Elma Campbell, Mrs.
Monique Hanna, Mrs. Marina Trotman and Mrs. Rosita Smith-Duvalier.
The President, Officers and Members say thank you to Mrs. Astrid Adderley for
her commitment and dedication to the Guild and as a phenomenal Chairperson of
the Flower Guild. St John believes that beauty elevates the worship experience
and the church. We have been blessed by the weekly transformation of the church
with seasonal floral decorations and her creativity during the Easter and Christ-
mas seasons.
The President, Officers and Members say a profound thank you to Dean Patrick
L. Adderley for his faithful service to the Lord and the difference he has made in
the lives of the members of this Altar Guild as confidant and friend. The commit-
ment and dedication with which his has performed his duties as Warden, will
always be remembered.
We congratulate him on his retirement and pray that God will continue to bless
him and his family as he enters this new chapter of life.
Today, as we celebrate the 26th anniversary of Christ Church Cathedral Altar
Guild, we pause to give thanks to all members of the Guild and in particular, The
Very Rev’d. Patrick L. Adderley, Warden and the extraordinary Presidents, who
have led this organization with zeal and excellence.
Although the Altar Guild was started in 1992, the first President was officially
appointed in 1997.
