The Cottages at Dartmouth Village Message From The General Manager; The Present Time is an enigma. Words like homonyms can also be puzzling. The word “Present” can be a gift; it can also be the current state of time. Lastly, it can mean to present, as in presenting a present in the present. That’s an example of a homonym. It all depends if you want to use it as a verb, a noun or an adjective. Regardless of how it’s used, has this word ever been more prevalent or suitable for these extremely challenging times we live in? These days, we need our current situation and words to be simplified, not more complicated. For anyone who knows me, I tend to be confounding, not on purpose, but out of curiosity. I find researching grammar is a wonderful way to become distracted, to take my tired mind off the obvious and reflect. That’s how I started to think about this wonderful word “Present” in the first place. In this world of uncertainty that our lives have become, there’s one solemn act we can all take comfort in, living in the present. Without living in the present, we can’t recall the good times from our past or have the perspective to see a brighter future. We need to live for today, which creates faith, hope and gratitude for what we have, not what we used to have. Let’s celebrate relationships and friendships. Let’s continue to be safe and cautious but take the time to enjoy every moment we have with our residents, families, friends and co-workers. Let’s never take another day for granted. Let’s celebrate each other and our lives. Love is never ending; it has no boundaries of time and space. Let’s enjoy what we have available to us, which is today and each other. Let’s forget about yesterday and not worry about tomorrow. Let’s give a special Present to each other, the Present of living in the Present. Fatherly Wit & WisdomDad Jokes

While having their evening dinner together, a little girl looked up at her father and asked, “Daddy, you’re the boss in our family, right?”

The father was very pleased to hear it and confidently replies, “Yes, my little princess.”

The girl then continued,”That’s because mommy put you in charge, right?

“Dad, are bugs good to eat?” asked the boy.

“Let’s not talk about such things at the dinner table, son,” his father replied.

After dinner, the father inquired, “Now, son, what did you want to ask me?”

“Oh, nothing,” the boy said. “There was a bug in your soup, but now it’s gone.”

Things I’ve learned:

• My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me.

• The older I get, the smarter my father seems to get.

• By the time a man realizes that maybe his father was right, he usually has a son who thinks he’s wrong.

Ways To Drink More Water (Continued)Sip through a straw — Many people find it easier to drink through a straw, and you’ll get more water with every sip. Plus, sipping slowly is better than guzzling, which can cause bloating.

Find your favorite flavor — If you don’t like plain water or simply want some variety, enhance the flavor with a few fresh berries, some sliced fruit, a splash of juice, or sprigs of fresh herbs such as spearmint.

Adjust the temp — Whether you like it served over ice or lukewarm, water is hydrating no matter its temperature. Let food servers know your preference so you’re sure to drink water at mealtimes.

Father’s Day TributeIn honor of Father’s Day, The Cottages at Dartmouth Village invites residents, families and friends to participate in our Father’s Day writing contest.

Tell us about your Dad, or father figure, in a poem or short story, and submit an email to [email protected] by June 14. A photo is also encouraged.
