for Grades 4K-12. This will be the only venue through which families can register for Summer School.

for registration until April 1, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. Register during these dates but pay later.

♦ You will need your Family Access information to register. If you are not enrolled in

Online registration will be open from March 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. and remains open until April 1, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. Families are required to have Family Access information to register. Follow-up email or letters will only be sent in the event of conflict or closed classes. No waiting list will be maintained for classes capped at maximum enrollment. Should a class be canceled, parents will be notified and given an opportunity to choose an alternate offering if one is available. Summer School registrations will NOT be accepted after April 1, 2012, except for K-8 Skills Instruction classes and High School Credit Recovery courses.

Students are expected to attend summer school regularly. Parents are requested to contact the Summer School Office to report student absences. All calls to report student absences should be directed to Summit Elementary School: 262-560-8306 (Health Room). Students may wear casual dress during the summer session. It is expected that clothing worn be neat, clean, and appropriate for school purposes. Students MUST WEAR SHOES (NO FLIP-FLOPS). No hats are allowed. This information brochure contains classes for students entering Grades 4K-4 classes. It is important that you note the location where classes will be held. MATH IMPROVEMENT Students will explore mathematical concepts through hands-on thematic activities. Problem solving will be the central focus of this mathe-matics program. Students will share their thinking and ap-proaches with each other as well as the teacher. They will learn several ways of representing problems and strategies for solving them. LEGO MANIA Build, build, and build. Use your imagination to design and construct your own Lego creations. Students will not only design and create their own Lego structures but will also use their Legos to further develop their reading comprehension. Students will need to come to class with a one gallon baggie filled with Lego pieces. In class they will take their own in-ventory so that their pieces will be returned at the end of the session. Some projects and places may include Mexico: metal tooling and Ojo de Dios, Canada: Maple Leaf quilt, France: clay gargoyles, Australia: paperweight, China: dragons, and much more. SPY KIDS: TOP SECRET MISSIONS 1 Are you ready to take on the challenge of becoming a pro-fessional Spy Kid? Become a part of a highly qualified group of kids engaging in top secret missions. The class will begin with basic agent training consisting of fingerprinting and completing an obstacle course. Students will do many activities to simulate the life of a real spy or detective such as decoding, having ali-ases or code names, examining evidence, assembling puzzles that lead to more clues, map reading/map making, physical mazes, observation skills, fingerprinting, and footprints. Stu-dents will make their own spy kit/briefcase to take with them to solve each “crime”. Rumor has it that there may be a cookie thief burglary that will need to be solved and a treasure hunt throughout the school/playground. LEGO MANIA Build, build, and build. Use your imagination to design and construct your own Lego crea-tions. Students will not only design and cre-ate their own Lego structures but will also use their Legos to further develop their reading comprehen-sion. Students will use their Legos to create story set-tings as well as different objects based on categories they come up with. Students will need to come to class with a one gallon baggie filled with Lego pieces. In class they will take their own inventory so that their pieces will be returned at the end of the session. A fun and active way to reinforce reading and creativity. FISHING FUN 1 Students will be introduced to various fresh water fish species. Students will learn basic knot tying techniques. Students will learn about environmental concerns re-garding inland lakes and rivers. Students will take fish-ing trips to local area lakes and rivers. They will also learn about various fishing techniques using lures and live bait. We will also discuss fishing etiquette and fish-ing safety.
