THE COACH HOUSE“Driving around the Peak District as a young man of 19, my husband discovered this house and thought, ‘I love that building’,” says the current owner of The Coach House. “He never dreamt that one day he would own it! Then, on his 40th birthday, we went out for a drive in the Maserati I had bought him, and saw from the top road (no longer in use) that there were people sitting around a swimming pool down below. We thought, ‘How lucky they are to live in a house like that!’, little knowing that some time later it would be us living there in such a wonderful and luxurious home.”

Seller Insight Driving around the Peak District as a young man of 19, my husband discovered this house and thought, ‘I love that building’,” says the current owner of The Coach House. “He

never dreamt that one day he would own it!

The house itself is beautifully appointed and well presented, with a stunning kitchen and several reception rooms along with 3 luxuriously proportioned bedrooms. “The bathrooms rival those found in 5* hotels!” say the owners. “The gorgeous lounge with its fireplace is very cosy in winter, too. The Coach House is as grand as any National Trust property!”

Having served well as a family home, the house is also ideal for entertaining. “The previous owners, though they had also lived in Stoke Hall, told us that this is the best party house,” say the current owners, “something which we have found to be true for the many celebrations and events we have hosted here. There is as much entertaining space as one could dream of, with the poolside proving a popular place amongst guests.” The grounds surrounding the property are indeed extensive, including a private swimming pool not at all overlooked by any neighbours or passers-by. “The garden is 100% South facing so has its own microclimate, being warmed by the sun’s rays all day,” say the owners. The local area also has much to offer, with excellent access to necessary amenities. “the local Spar has long opening hours and stocks everything one could possibly need,” say the owners, “while a Post Office, dentist’s surgery and fantastic doctors’ surgery are also nearby. There is a superb restaurant serving fantastic food, too. We love the area so much, we shall not be moving far!”

“I will miss being able to go for a midnight swim in total and utter privacy on a late summer or autumn evening.”

“I just love the massive downstairs bedroom, with its blackout shutters akin to those in Downton Abbey. It is such a peaceful place to enjoy a good night’s rest.”

“The doctors’ surgery is absolutely fantastic, utilised to great satisfaction by the Duchess of Devonshire and locals alike!”

“We have hosted many parties here, including meetings with other Maserati owners and enthusiasts. We have so much space here that we can entertain a vast number of guests at any one time.”

I will miss being able to go for a midnight swim in total and utter privacy on a late summer or autumn evening.”
