HOPE
If you do not hope, you will not find what is beyond your hopes. —St. Clement
GETTING THROUGH THE TOUGH TIMES “It’s going to get worse before it gets better” is a phrase that prepares us to buckle up for a rough ride. We know that enduring a difficult time will require some strenuous physical or emotional energy on our part before we experience the calm of normality. Our past experience tells us that we can endure the difficult pressure better when we know how long it will last and if we know that something better awaits us. Getting through the tough times while holding to the promise that awaits us is the message of this weekend’s readings. They point toward the promises of God’s kingdom that will come after the maelstroms and chaos of this world. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
First Reading — Those who lead the many to justice shall be like the stars forever (Daniel 12:1-3).
Psalm — You are my inheritance, O Lord! (Psalm 16).
Second Reading — Where there is forgiveness, there is no longer offering for sin (Hebrews 10:11-14, 18).
Gospel — Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away (Mark 13:24-32).

Prayer Requests...
Please remember in your prayers the repose of the souls of
Henry Meza James Fanchin
May they and all the faithful departed rest in peace.
Praying Hands: How can you be a Minister to the Sick without ever leaving your own home? It’s easy!
Every week our bulletin has a list of people who have requested our prayers for healing, for hope, for courage and for strength. They need our prayers and they believe that our prayers are powerful. So, may I suggest that every day we pray for one person from that list. We can name that person as we bring our prayers to the heart of God and ask our loving God to lay His healing hands on them.
In that way, these people will no longer be names on a list, they will be people who are special to us and we can be prayer warriors in our own homes. Try it! Sr. Sheila

Hurrah for Josie!! Josephine Rodriguez, a long- time St. Joseph parishioner celebrated her 100th birthday on October 30 in the presence of her family, her friends and her pastor, Fr. Jerry. It was a glorious day as her son, Tony, welcomed us to her home and Joe Viallobas immediately filled the house with the strains of the Mananitas. Josie was so excited and happy and as a gesture of gratitude, she picked up her harmonica and played her favorite tunes to the delight of her guests. Prayers, blessings and the Anointing of the Sick followed and Josie was ready to begin a day of celebrations . She expressed her deep gratitude to Mary Lou Lorey and Juanita Partington, who make sure that she has the opportunity to receive Communion every week. She assured us that it was her deep faith and the gift of the Eu-charist that give her the strength to keep going every day. Josie is an amazing woman, whose mind is clearer and more dependable that any computer. She has a fund of knowledge and is well versed in local history. She has watched the area grow from vineyards and orange groves to shopping malls and housing estates and she constantly marvels at the glory of God and the goodness and kindness of His people. At the age of one hundred, she lives in the NOW and makes the most of every mo-ment of life. CONGRATULATIONS, JOSIE!!
