Important Resident Contract Information from Taylor’s Financial Controller

It has been my pleasure to work with a number of resi-dents who converted from a Lifestyle Contract to Con-tinuing Care since we announced the benefits of a new conversion option available for a limited time. These residents are now assured access to higher level care within the Taylor Community, specifically nursing, should it ever become needed in the future. Further-more, they will continue to be cared for at Taylor for the rest of their lives regardless of ability to pay for their care. They have peace of mind knowing they will never have to move from Taylor due to changes in their health or finances.
It is very important that those of you with Lifestyle Agreements understand that you do not have access to these benefits under your current contract. It is also important to know that you may be able to convert to a continuing care contract, even if you didn’t select this contract type when you first moved to Taylor, provided you meet the current health and financial criteria. And, it is also good to know that there are possible income tax benefits to be gained by having a continuing care contract (one should consult a tax professional to un-derstand how and if this deduction applies to you).
I was surprised to learn of the two different contract types when I first came to Taylor. My years of experi-ence were with other CCRC’s where Continuing Care was the only option. That was the whole basis for mov-ing into the community knowing that you had access to the full continuum to not only meet your current situa-tion but also future needs as you age and circum-stances change.
Taylor residents who qualify have always had the op-tion to convert from a Lifestyle Contract to Continuing Care. However, standard practice has been that only the remaining refundable portion of their initial Lifestyle entrance fee was credited to the new Continuing Care contract. More recently, Taylor’s Board of Trustees voted to endorse new financial terms that are very ad-vantageous to residents who decide to convert. Now, for a limited time, qualified residents can convert to Continuing Care and apply the full amount of their origi-nal entrance fee toward the payment of the Continuing Care entrance fee. Depending on the contract and the date of origination, that can amount to savings of more than $100,000!

WOODSIDE CAFÉ The Woodside Café is open Monday through Friday from 11AM until 2PM. In addition to the featured entrées and side dishes, a Soup du Jour is available, along with Burgers, Paninis, Toasted Subs, Sandwiches to order, and Salad Bar.
