The Build in Canada Innovation Program
The Office of Small and Medium Enterprises (OSME)
Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC)
1
Program Profile
Background
How it Works
2
• Through a competitive
procurement process, the
government buys innovative pre-
commercial goods and services.
• Tests them in government
departments and partners.
• Made permanent in 2012.
• 2016-2017 program funding is
$30 million.
• A win-win for both Canadian businesses and testing
departments:
• Businesses are better able to take the next step and sell
their innovation in the marketplace.
• Government departments test, assess and keep state-of-the-
art goods and services.
