How Does The Brain Work?Neurons and Neural Pathways• The Cells of the Brain

and Nervous System are called Neurons.

• Sends small electric signals from one cell to another.

• When in a large network such as the brain it produces thoughts and actions.

How Does The Brain Work?Learning New Things• Each neuron has nodes

connecting them to other neurons which the send signals through.

• The more connections, the more you know and can process information quickly.

• Each time you learn something another connection(s) are formed.

• Each time you practice something the connection(s) involved are strengthened.

How do you improve the brain’s abilities?

Maintaining Your Brain• Get plenty of rest (8-

10 hours)• Eat healthy foods

(food groups)• Get lots of exercise

(60 minutes)

How do you improve the brain’s abilities?

Training Your Brain• Do challenging things

(EX: math problems, logic problems, ect.)

• Practice/Review what you already know

• Learn new things• Don’t do one thing all

the time (EX: video games and no HW, be a couch potato)
