Bewick Court, the Musical Filmed in a tower block in Newcastle, the artist interviewed a number of residents and turned thetranscripts into lyrics which they could sing with musician Chris Prosho. “The work attempts a musicaldocumentary, the singing abilities of the residents are not that important to the work, more their courage insinging their experiences and feelings. The block has a strong multi-cultural spread which we reflect in themusic and the singers we chose. We wanted them to sing about their normal lives with little or noembellishment, to create a sense of juxtaposition between the sung and the visuals, to reveal the heart ofthose chosen.”Yn ffilmio mewn bloc t ^wr yn ninas Castellnewydd yn Lloegr, bu’r artist yn cyfweld nifer o drigolion acwedyn yn troi’r sgriptiau’n eiriau y gellid eu canu gyda’r cerddor Chris Prosho. “Cais yw’r gwaith i greu darndogfen cerddorol. The Trolley Dance: Something Epic in the Everyday This film depicts a dance work involving older members of the community, filmed in the market square inDarlington. “Shopping is an everyday experience and a strong signifier of this experience is the trolley. Wewanted to make a person’s experience with a trolley into something beautiful. When talking with theparticipants and trying to devise an idea, they spoke about how they often felt invisible. Filming it on thestreets made the participants feel that their community could see them.” Mae’r ffilm hon, a wnaethpwyd yn sgwâr y farchnad yn Darlington, yn portreadu darn dawns sy’ncynnwys aelodau hyn y gymuned. “Mae siopa yn brofiad bob-dydd a rhywbeth sy’n cynrychioli’r profiadhwn yw’r troli. ‘Roeddem am drawsnewid profiad person gyda throli yn rhywbeth prydferth. Bu ffilmio ar y strydoedd yn gwneud i’r siopwyr deimlo y gallai’r gymuned eu gweld.”

Angelus SeptentrioA poem written by Kevin Cadwallender to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Angelof the North sculpture in Gateshead. Tying Tone ArmsWith turntables, I often tie the tone arm back in order to interrupt normal play. The work is then producedlive without headphones or post-production. By making work in this way, I hope to reassess the nature ofthe objects and their ‘useful’ life, explore memory and notions of musical consistency and examine theontology of recorded sound. Graeme Miller ‘The Thinking Path’This film was shot on the path where Darwin walked daily with his terrier, Polly, and guesses at thedifficulty in reconciling intellectual bravery with compassion. As Darwin walks, the mechanism ofevolution, multiple and repeated death, is crystallised in his thoughts. Juxtaposed with this concept isthe excruciating sorrow he feels at the single death of his beloved daughter Annie.Graeme Miller is an artist whose work embraces a wide range of media including theatre, dance,installations and interventions.
