Palin was the guest speakerat Patriots in the Park, an eventsponsored by the Willow Run TeaParty Caucus and AmericansFor Prosperity Michigan.

Palin spoke at length aboutenergy and the economy, sayingthat lifting government restric-tions on coal and oil productionin the United States would help

Our economic revival startswith our energy revival, shesaid. Its about fostering a genu-ine free market.

Government interference,Palin said, is a problem and ishindering economic growth.

2012 is the race between biggovernment and big freedom, she said. We must get govern-ment out of the way and we mustlet the private sector breathe andgrow.

Palin also criticized PresidentBarack Obama and health carereform.

Were little tea pots, andwere getting steamed upbecause Obama is tippingus over, pouring us out and

draining the entrepreneurialspirit from us, that which grewAmerica into the most excep-

    tional nation ever known, shesaid.

Obama, Palin said, is trying tofundamentally change the U.S.with healthcare reform.

    Can you afford four more

years of this? she asked thecrowd. Why would anybodywant to fundamentally trans-form what is so good and free

and strong about America?Energizing the crowd, Palin

also spoke about optimism in thecoming year, as the presidentialelection grows closer.

I dont want you to be

bummed, I dont want you to losecourage and I dont want you tolose hope and faith that thingscan be turned around, though

the challenges do seem daunt-ing, she said.

Palins speech did instilloptimism into the crowd, whichenthusiastically cheered her on.

    Kathleen Wilson, from Novi,

said she attended the event togain some of that enthusiasm.
