Limpopo Premier spokesperson KennyMathivha said that these are just that, allegations and there is no truth to that.He said that the premier has never andcannot protect any corrupt official orpolitician and he does not support anycorrupt activity. Photo of the weekAs this is the last issue of The BEATfor the month of love, we thought we’dsend you off on a positive note.In Proverbs 15:17, the Bible says

“Better a dinner of herbs where loveis, than stalled ox and hatred there-with.”Now, for those of us who don’t live in

Biblical times, a stalled ox is a hugefeast. I don’t know why they called it a‘stalled’ ox. A multitude of modernjokes suggest themselves, but none ofthem will be made in this column. Atleast not today.Basically, the point of this quote is

that it is better to have nothing (adinner of herbs was considered to befood for the very poor, while the ox wasfor the very rich) but be loved, than tohave everything without love. That can be an incredibly depressing

thought, looked at in the wrong way. Inthe right light, it can be a very hopefulsentiment.Because a lot of times, people forget

that the Bible hardly ever mentionswho you should love. Unless it’s God,of course; the Bible is pretty firm onloving God.In this verse, you’re not necessarily

being told that it’s awful to be alone. You’re being told that to live withoutlove is pointless.Which, you know, it is.But you don’t have to just turn your

love outwards. In fact, until you loveyourself, you can’t truly love anyoneelse, can you? How would you knowhow to love if you didn’t love yourselffirst?Look at yourself honestly, accept

your flaws, and learn to love yourself.Learn to be confident in your own

skin. Be kind to yourself – you’re theonly person in the world you can’tescape. It’s a truth of the universe that how

you feel about yourself influences howpeople feel about you. If you loveyourself (not vain, but happy with whoyou are), you’re easier to get alongwith, easier to like.People who hate themselves…well,

we tend to assume that if peoplereally dislike themselves that much, surely there’s a reason for it? So wekeep our distance. No matter how rich you are, or how

successful, you will never be trulyhappy until you learn to love yourself, whoever you are.If you feel you need to love someone

this week, look at yourself.Do you like yourself? Are you happy

with who you are, at this point in yourlife?Love ultimately starts with you. Like

a light on a mirror, it can’t be reflecteduntil it’s directed inward. Much like alight on a mirror, you will find that onceyou’ve turned your love — your light —inward, it makes everything so muchbrighter.

The Devil mademe do it Pastor Sammy Masole

This is the statement often men-tioned by people when they havedone evil and bad things whichare not morally accepted.Horrible things are done in our

world today, and instead of peopleowning their actions, they find itto escape to say, “It is not I, Thedevil made me do it”. This soundsvery convincingly, yet it makes usto be a generation which fails toaccount for our behaviors. We arelike Cain who killed his brotherand when God asked him, “Whereis your brother?” and he an-swered, “I don’t know, Am I mybrother’s keeper? After Cain killedAbel, God did not ask the devil.Adam also failed to account toGod after he sinned in the Gardenof Eden. He simply said, “It is thewoman you gave me to be with, she gave me the fruit and I ate”.People kill others, rape, steal

from others, cheat and fornicate, live in adultery, and do many otherevil things in the world and theirsimply excuse will be, “It is not I,the devil made me do it.” In thebook of James 1:14-15 we read,“Temptation comes from our owndesires, which entice us and dragus away. These desires give birthto sinful actions. And when sin isallowed to grow, it gives birth todeath.” This simply explains thatwe lie when we says it is thedevil. The reason why somepeople do the same evil over andover again, that’s because weshift blame, and it suits us fine toescape by having acceptableexcuses which create dodgyways of becoming fully account-able to our doings. We are not a mistaken creation

of God, we are created with apower of choice. Anything that wedo, evil or good, we shall havefirst allowed it. Remember Godsaid to Cain, “Sin crouches atyour door, its desire is for you,but you must master it.” Cain hada choice of giving in to the sin ofkilling his brother or to refuse tothe evil desire. In the book ofJames 4v7, we read, “So humbleyourself before God, Resist thedevil, he will flee from you.” Wehave the power to resist the deviland his temptations. The first step which will help us

to change, it is by acknowledgingour own shortcomings, sins andevil things we do rather thansaying it is the devil, not us.David slept with Uriah’s wife andplotted the killing of Uriah in thebattle field, and in the book ofPsalm 51:3, he prays “For Iacknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me.”Allow Jesus in your life today, hecan save you and change youtoday if you admit you sins.Amen.
