The Battle of Quebec started on December 31, 1775 between the French
Army and the British defenders of Quebec at the Plains of Abraham.

General John Wolfe had a bold plan to capture Quebec; he knew that Montcalm only had a few troops guarding the cliff
because he thought it was too steep.
Late at night, Wolfe ordered the British troops to row boats to the foot of the cliff
and climb up to the top.
In the morning, Montcalm woke up to a surprise. 4000 British troops were
assembled and ready for battle.

When the fighting had finished, the two generals, Wolfe and Montcalm both
lay dead
