Boo! No write-up! - James Salgado
The tourney was a fun day! Our game against Sons of Pitches was a good one. It started off pretty close but before we knew it, Sons of Pitches pulled away. That didn't stop the fun, we still had a great time being out there with everyone else. Great job by Da Bombers, Sons of Pitches and all the teams. We look forward to the summer season.
- Gordon Boothe
Great game by both teams. Holey Balls went ahead early in the game with some nice batting by most of the team. Down Wiff It kept creeping up throughout the game and even tied the game at 11 but Holey Balls answered right back with a few home runs and kept the lead until the end. Overall, great 1st season for DWI, I'm very proud of everybody in the team and I'm happy to say that the entire team is coming back next season. Everybody better watch out because we'll be bringing louder music, crazier dance moves and more home runs! See you all at the End of Season party in a couple weeks!

Team write-ups
As predicted, the shorthanded Sons of Pitches found themselves down early to the speedy top of the order of Da Bombers. Partly because I tried the left handed, running out of the box Ichiro style swing to start the game. Obviously, that's impossible. My numbskullery aside, the team started to string together hits. Brian, as Brian does, carried over his success from Thursday's Home Run Derby and hit three more in this game. He also made a pair of diving stops in the outfield to rob Da Bombers of extra bases. In the end, the Pitches were able to stretch the lead out to 24-12 and move on to the next round.
This time, Wiffskey was playing a person down and had to take the auto-out. But it didn't seems to slow their bats one bit. We decided to stop hitting well for some reason even though the defense only fielded 7 players. Not sure why we decided that was our best strategy but, as could be expected, that was not a solid way to score runs. Wiffskey knocked in 19 runs - several of which from the long ball - and continued their winning ways from the regular season. The final score was 19-14 and our season crashed to a bitter ending.

Team write-ups This was a disappointing game for Take a Wiff of This. We watched Holey Balls win their previous game and they were playing with some serious focus coming into the game. We got out to an early lead thanks in part to homeruns by Jessica and Baham. We also played great defense over the first five innings. The score was 4-0 heading into the last inning when Holey Balls caught their lightning in a bottle. They put up a clutch 7 spot in the top half of the inning. We responded with two runs of our own on a Jon Reyes homerun in the bottom half, but we ultimately came up short a run. I went hitless in the game, which was a big reason for our loss. Kudos to Holey Balls for the win against us and for showing some heart in their championship game, despite a tough loss. They were the last seed going into the tournament and made their way to the championship game. Congrats to Wiffskey Militia on their repeat title. That team was a homerun machine in the championship game. Who’s gonna step up next season and take the belt from them??? Until next time…

Team write-ups
WIFFSKEY MILITIA
Going into the tournament, our team knew it would be tough to win the whole thing. We had a third of our team out. So, we ended up playing with five guys and three girls. Taking an out at the bottom of the lineup and only fielding eight was definitely not what I preferred. But we were gonna give it our best shot anyway. Sons of Pitches jumped on us right out the gate, putting up a nine-spot in the top of the first. I made two errors in the inning and even let one go through the five-hole. We shook it off though and slowing battled back, bit by bit. I cannot express enough how well my team batted on this day. Every single person on the Militia really stepped up, with the exception of me in the first game. Honestly, after the semi-final game was over, I felt like I had barely helped our team win. Thank goodness I know how to put together a team full of studs. I think the final score ended up being something in the neighborhood of 16-13, after Marcus made an incredible play to end the game with a peg on a runner trying to score. It’s always fun to play Sons of Pitches. They are a good, tight group of people. See ya next season, guys.
We kept the momentum going and the bats stayed hot in the Championship game. In
the second inning, we batted around twice and two of the outs were the outs we were
giving them at the bottom of the lineup. We were off to a 21-4 lead about midway
through the game. Things were looking good for the Militia. I even made an unassisted
triple play, which has to be only possible in wiffleball…haha. I got to give it to James and
the Holey Balls, though. They showed a lot of heart as they went on a huge run. They
had two big innings at bat and held us scoreless in between. Before we knew what hit
us, they had pulled within two runs, making it 21-19 heading into the bottom of the
fifth inning. They had us sweating to say the least. I had to rally the troops, as I pleaded
with everyone to pick their heads up. Myself, Craig and Colin started the inning with
back-to-back-to-back jacks and that really was the nail in the coffin. Thanks to all the
hard work that goes into this league. We always have a blast on Thursdays. It’s been a
pleasure meeting so many cool people and I can’t wait until the Summer season starts.
Championship…BOOM! -Ryan Roebuck
The Hookup
Another one of my favorite people, Katy Batista is such a cool chick. I always say she’s such a catch for any guy that can get a hold of this girl. She’s smart, funny, hot, got a badonkadonk all girls should be jealous of and all guys DO stare at, caring, loves dogs (esp pits) and she’s one tough cookie. I’ve seen this girl run head-on with one of my dodgeball teammates and go off the field laughing; granted she did have to go to the hospital, but she went smiling nonetheless. Katy is such a fun girl, every time you’re around her, you’re sure to have a good time.
Katy Batista
Antonio Antonio Antonio…what can I say about Antonio. I think all I really have to say about him is he is he can tear it up on the dance floor with his sweet Latin dances. He can Merengue, Mambo, Samba…you name it, he can do it. And we all know what they say about guys that have moves on the dance floor…uh huh! Besides his moves, Antonio also has his quick wittedness going for him. He’s got jokes and comebacks for days, he sometimes goes over my head with jokes. He’s also one of the sweetest guys I’ve met, he’d definitely give you his shirt off his back if you really needed it….would he rather you be shirtless…yea of course, but if it were life and death….it’s yours!
