One very important person, who is not teaching a class this year, is Mrs Ayuso. We have created a special role for Mrs Ayuso because of her wonderful ability to connect with students, families and teachers to ensure that everyone feels connected, supported and cared for at school. As this role comes with many responsibilities, Mrs Ayuso is now an ‘Assistant Principal, Student Wellbeing’ for 2020 for part of her role. The other part of her job this year is to work with teachers and classes using technology to en- hance learning including Cyber Safety, coding and robotics. So far Mrs Ayuso has done a great job of helping new stu- dents to settle into school and feel included and valued. She also organised for all stage 3 classes to be involved in a Virtual Classroom with students around Australia for Safe Internet Day. We have also have another new addition to our teaching staff for the year. Welcome to Mrs Kirsty Kellaway, who joins us as an Assistant Principal in charge of Kindergarten and Stage 1 and is class teacher for 1/2K. Meet the Teacher Afternoon On Tuesday at the request of the 2019 P & C, we held a ‘Meet the Teacher’ afternoon, for parents and carers to come to the school and hear from their child’s teacher about what is happening at school this year. Thank you to all parents who attended, we would love to hear if you thought this was a beneficial thing to do and would like to continue to have this event each year. SRC members for 2020 At our recent assembly the Student Representative Council members for 2020 received their badges to officially start their very important role. Two students are voted in by their class to attend SRC meetings and share ideas for fundraising and school improvements. It is a very important job, with great responsibility and children should be very proud to be elected. Congratulations to the representatives from: KG – Jamilah Ghamrawi, Luke Taoum KS – Adam Aili Rosa Logozzo 1/2C – Safiya Ghamrawi, Dinch Ibrahim 1/2M – Tyler Lawrence, Kobi Virk 1/2K – Ruby Bills, Ali Alfan 2/3K – Yonita Lazar, Lucas Campbell 3/4L – Joslyn Manago, Jonah Akkouche 3/4R – Oni McPhee, Sam Logozzo 5/6S – Kayla Su, Frankie Mosca 5/6K – Olivia Mendez, Zac Zammit Cookson 5/6M – Mel Ghamrawi, Hartwell Su School Improvements It is so lovely to see the school grounds looking so green again. The recent storms have left a bit of a mess, but the school is setting back to looking it’s best. The addition of the ‘Yarning Circle’ down the back in the ‘trees’ area has cer- tainly added to the charm of the school. Children are enjoying playing in this area which can also be used as an outdoor learning space. P & C Committee I’d also like to congratulate and welcome our 2020 P & C committee and thank everyone who attended the Annual Gen- eral Meeting last week. Mrs Marijana Nad is President for the second year, Mrs Michelle Maddon is Vice President, Ms Julia Hamori is Secretary and Mrs Tennille Akkouche is Treasurer. They have already started making plans for 2020 and School Banking started this week. Banking Day will be Monday again this year. Drop off and pick up road safety Schools are very busy places especially at drop off and pick up times. Unfortunately, there is not a lot of parking outside the school and it fills up quickly. I’d like to remind parents and carers to please consider the safety of our students and to park safely on the street to pick up their children, even if it means leaving earlier to get a spot or parking further away and walking up to the school gate.

The police often patrol school zones to ensure that pick up and drop off zones are being used correctly. Gymnastics Our K – 6 Gymnastics program commenced last Fri-day and will continue for the next few weeks. The chil-dren had a wonderful time developing their fitness and skills on the fantastic equipment provided. Thank you to Miss Costantino for organizing this for our students through the ‘Sport in Schools’ grant as this allows us to offer the activities to all of the school at no cost. We are certainly off to a great start in 2020. Kind regards Jan Rogers GOLD AWARDS
