ELECTION CONTEST WINNER

AGC's Election Contest Winner...

Although the voting continues here in San Diego County and throughout the country, we can tell you we have a winner in AGC's Election Contest... Edward Chavez of Filanc Construction Company, Inc. bested 42 other contestants and answered nine out of ten questions correctly. Second place goes to Nancy Chase of Herzog Contracting Corporation, who picked eight questions right. She won a three-way tie-breaker between George Burrough of Condon-Johnson & Associates, Inc., and Nick Walters of West Coast General Corporation. George topped Nick in the tie-breaker for third.

Congratulations Edward! You join an elite cast of past Election Day winners: John H. Daley Jr. of Inland Pacific Resource Recovery, LLC; Nancy Chase of Herzog Contracting Corporation; Abd Jahshan of PAL General Engineering, Inc.; Mike Furby of Marathon Construction Corporation; Thomas L. Brown of Sierra Pacific West, Inc.; Andrew James of Lockton Insurance Brokers, LLC.; Steve Thompson of Soltek Pacific Construction Company; and Roy Lozano of Western Bay Sheet Metal, Inc.

It may be hard to believe, but the next AGC Election contest is March 3, 2020, when California will hold its Primary Election. It's been moved up to increase California's influence in deciding presidential candidates. That means you have 471 days to sharpen your political prognostication skills!

AGC San Diego Chapter's 91st Annual Meeting - Announcing Steve Breen as Guest Speaker Eddie Sprecco, CEO As we close the year, we invite AGC members to the Chapter's 91st Annual Meeting on Tuesday, December 18th, from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the Hilton San Diego on Mission Bay (1775 East Mission Bay Drive, San Diego, CA 92109). 2018 was a busy political year, a very good year for the construction industry, and a productive year for your Association - outcomes made possible by the active involvement of the 1100 members of AGC San Diego.

With that, we are pleased to announce Political Cartoonist, Steve Breen as our guest speaker this year. Steve was born in Los Angeles in 1970 and raised in Orange County. Steve received a degree in political science in 1992 from the University of California at Riverside. Steve became the editorial cartoonist for the Asbury Park Press (NJ) in 1996 and in 2001, was hired by The San Diego Union-Tribune. He is a two-time winner of the Pulitzer Prize. Steve's children's books include: Stick, Violet the Pilot, Pug and Doug, Woodpecker Wants a

Waffle, and Henry McHenry. The Annual Meeting also offers "Active Members" the important task of electing individuals to fill open seats on the Board of Directors. Year round, this elected AGC leadership makes decisions on your behalf that influence local infrastructure funding, industry practices, public policy, and politics. In addition to the election of members to the Board of Directors, AGC San Diego will present the AGC's 2018 Annual Report, detailing the activities and finances of the AGC. This will include acknowledging our dedicated members who are the backbone of the San Diego chapter; our chairmen and chairwomen who head up the many AGC committees. Your involvement is critical, and the Annual Report will detail how valuable member resources are working for you. We encourage all AGC firms to take a couple of hours out of your schedule on December 18th to attend this final meeting of the year. Click Here to Register!
