• 750 – Abu Muslim leads capture of Damascus• Marwan II flees to Egypt• Aug. 6, 750 – Marwan captured and killed• `Abd al-Rahman (grandson of Hisham) flees to Spain as only surviving Umayyad prince• Establishes new Umayyad dynasty in Spain
