In t roduc t ion

This is the follow-up study to Epic Sacrifice, an exploratory study that examined thedivine nature, human life, death and resurrected life of Christ.

In the first study we discussed what the Son of God possessed before the incarnation,secondly during the incarnation, and we finished by looking at the nature of His death

and how He poured out His inherited original immortal life at Calvary. We saw it was anextraordinary death Christ underwent. In death, His life was not a life that was taken buta life that was given . That’s why He said “no man taketh it [my divine life] from Me” but Ilay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it [receive itback] again” (John 10: 18). Jesus as the second Adam in representing the first Adamand ALL his fallen posterity, collectively took our corrupt sinful human nature to thegrave and destroyed it. As our sin bearer Christ’s humanity suffered the second death.Although He freely poured out His divine life for the sins of the world, His divinity did notdie the second death. His humanity died in that sense but not His divinity. Deity did notdie. It slept with Him in the tomb until the resurrection. When He was resurrected Hereceived a new glorious body and His Father restored His spirit/identity and divinecharacter back to Him. Only the scars remained in His glorified humanity as a reminderof His love in sacrifice and the price that was paid for our redemption in satisfying justice.

In this study we will see what Christ regained after His death, burial, resurrection andglorification in the courts of heaven. As said before, in dealing with this topic we shouldavoid carelessness nor resorting to guesswork. We need to prayerfully and intelligiblyunpack a number of texts that on the surface seem contradictory but are in realityparadoxes that when understood reveal great truths.

Did the Son of God relinquish His omniscience (all knowledge), omnipotence (all power)

and omnipresence (the ability to be everywhere present) during His incarnation as “sonof man”? Or did He lay these divine attributes aside? If so, when? These oft-repeatedquestions demand answers if we are ever going to appreciate the divine-human nature of Christ to the fullest extent. We will see what was needed in order for the Son of God tobe a perfect and fair example, manifest His Father’s character and fully qualify inbecoming our Savior, our substitute in death, our righteousness and glorified High Priest.

OmniscienceAs our example, the “son of man” learned, was taught, and was instructed. (Doesomniscience need to grow in knowledge?) Here is another paradox that for the sake of this study we must address. Up until the age of 12, Jesus had not known that He was tobe the Messiah that prefigured the symbolic Passover lamb – again proving at that timeHe did not tap into omniscience to escape learning, as every child must do. (Doesomniscience lack any knowledge of what lies ahead? We need to answer this paradox).Notice

“He [the Savior] "increased [grew] in wisdom and favor with God andman" Luke 2:52.

“His [the child Jesus’] mother was His first human teacher . From her lips and from the scrolls of the prophets, He learned of heavenly things. The very words which He Himself had spoken to Moses for Israel He wasnow taught at His mother's knee . As He advanced from childhood to

youth, He did not seek the schools of the rabbis. He needed not the education to be obtained from such sources; for God was Hisinstructor.” DA p.71

“For the first time the child Jesus looked upon the temple. He saw thewhite robed priests………..Every act seemed to be bound up with His mission was opening to the Saviour. Rapt in the contemplation of these scenes………. Jesus in the temple had been taught by God .” – DA 78

Assumption: Some believe that the wonderful parables Jesus uttered and the wisdom of which He spoke came from His Father and that He did not independently possessextraordinary insight and knowledge. Is this assumption altogether correct? (Or did Hereceive this knowledge through divine inheritance? In addition to this, as our perfectexample, did He not receive even more of fullness of “the spirit of knowledge” andwisdom through the Holy Spirit’s anointing and bestowal at the commencement of His 3½ year ministry? (See Isa 61:1-3) Scripture says,

"The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the spirit of wisdom andunderstanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord; and shall make Him of quick understanding in the fear of the

Lord."- Isa 11:2,3

Jesus possessed extraordinary insight. The scenario involving the suffering woman whoexperienced constant hemorrhaging and spent all her living on many physicians but wasno better but worse, further indicates this. Inspiration says,

“Christ knew every thought of her mind . . . He realized her great need, andHe was helping her to exercise faith . . . Suddenly Jesus stopped, and looking roundHe asked, "Who touched Me?" {MH 60.3} Christ did not ask the question for Hisown information. He had a lesson for the people, for His disciples, and for thewoman.” {MH 60.6}

“ Christ could have opened door after door of science. He could haverevealed to men treasures of science on which they might havefeasted to the present time. But knowing that this knowledge would have been appropriated to unholy uses, He did not open thedoor.” {MM 116.3}

“The Saviour looked upon the mournful countenance, and saw thepleading eyes fixed upon Him. He understood the case; He had drawn toHimself that perplexed and doubting spirit. While the paralytic was yet athome, the Saviour had brought conviction to his conscience .” {DA268.1}

“The Saviour understood the care and burden of the mothers … Hehad heard their prayers . He Himself had drawn them into Hispresence.” “Jesus gave the rabbis an evidence of His divinity by showingthat He read their hearts .” DA 511.2; 456.2

Christ’s omniscience knew of coming judgments upon Jerusalem

“The one great burden and grief of Jesus was that He , with omniscienteye , was viewing the destruction of Jerusalem.” - 2SAT 331.7

“Christ's heart had said "How can I give thee up?" He had dealt with Israelas a loving, forgiving father would deal with an ungrateful, wayward child.With the eye of Omniscience He saw that the city of Jerusalem haddecided her own destiny.” (MS 30, 1890). {5BC 1098.6}

“He is the wonderful Counselor, infinite in wisdom and strength ;… InChrist "dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And ye arecomplete in him." {RH, February 10, 1903 par. 6}

These are a few examples indicating Christ possessed extraordinary powers includingsupernatural omniscience. Yet on the other hand, Scripture records that in the garden of Gethsemane, the Son of man was unsure of exactly how things would play out. But markwith care, this scenario did not involve relieving the suffering of others but was an eventCONCERNING HIMSELF. Matt 24:36; 26:39,42. (Is omniscience ever unsure anduncertain of what will take place in the future? No. Yet on occasions the son of man faceduncertainties. (Mark 15:34; Matt 26:39,42). How then can we explain this paradox?). Didthe Son of God possess omniscient power or not? Could it be that there are a coupleprinciples here that maybe we have failed to factor into all this? That when it came tothings directly concerning Himself, Christ could NOT depend on His omniscience and thatHe chose not to activate or access these powers until after His anointing with power atthe commencement of His ministry? Scripture seems clear that when it came to thingsconcerning others welfare, in divine compassion He did not once hesitate to employ Hisdivinely inherited omniscient power. That maybe the only way we can explain thoseseemingly contradictory quotations.

So we cannot ignore the fact Christ read the hearts of men and women. Jesus knew whatpeople were thinking. A few final examples of this are the Samaritan woman at theJacob’s well in Sychar (John 4:16-19); the guilty men who led the woman into adultery(John 8:7-9); faithful Nathanial under the fig tree (John 1:48,50); His disciples seekingthe highest place; Peter who denied Him (Matt 26:34) and Judas His betrayer (Luke22:48) and we could list many other instances. “And [He] needed not that anyone shouldtestify of man: for He knew what was in man ” John 2:25.

Christ would not judge “after the sight of the eyes,” but with “righteousness shall he judge.” In Scripture, a garment, robe or girdle is often used to signify the mind heart orcharacter. Jesus’ righteousness was so naturally “close to His chest” and so natural, socharacteristic of His nature, that Isaiah described it as clothing—“righteousness shall bethe girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins” (Isaiah 11:1-5).

The Hebrew word “reins” as mentioned a number of times in Scripture is oftentimes inconnection with “heart” or “mind”. The dictionary states that the biblical use of “reins”

means the deep seat of feelings or affection. The prophet Jeremiah wrote “The heart is deceitful above all things , and desperately wicked: who can know it”? Then he saysconcerning the pre-existent Son: “I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins…” (Jeremiah17:9,10). In Revelation the “True Witness” that walks amidst the seven churches saysrepeats this by saying: “…I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts:..” (Revelation2:23). In the judgment nothing is hidden from Him.

But some would suggest here that this knowledge must be seen contextually asbestowed revelation from the Father. They will refer to the holy prophets and discipleswho were shown things from God’s spirit that could not be otherwise known byappearances. (Acts 8:27-29, 30). That is a common assumption. But was the nature of

Christ’s miracles any different to that of the disciples and prophets? Notice theseprofound words of inspiration,

From this quotation one can see that Jesus was able to perform miracles from His “ownpower” He inherited from the Father.

In summary: There were occasions concerning Christ’s OWN life when He did not knowwhat lay ahead. And during these times He relied completely on the Father. But thereseemed to be far more instances when the “omniscient eye” of Christ penetrated into thefuture in reading the hearts of men and women and this gave evidence to whom Heclaimed to be - the divine Son of God.

“The manner of Jesus in working his miracles was very different from thatof his apostles. His language was that of one who possessed power inhimself . "Be thou clean." "Peace, be still." Neither did he hesitate toaccept the honor offered him on these occasions, nor seek to divertthe minds of the people from himself, as though his miracles werenot wrought by his own power, for his own glory. But the apostleswrought miracles only in the name of Jesus, and refused to receive theleast honor to themselves. They claimed to be only instruments of thatJesus whom the Jews had crucified, but whom God had raised andelevated to his right hand. He was to receive all the honor andpraise. ” {3SP 277.1}

Omnipotence

During the youthful years of His life in Nazareth up until age 30 Jesus made no exhibitionof any miraculous power. He could have. In His youth Jesus “was a fountain of healingmercy for the world… Yet… during all the years of His stay in Nazareth, He made noexhibition of His miraculous power .” – DA 74

Therefore, just because Jesus did not always use His miraculous powers this does not inany way mean He was not divine. Jesus was not dependant upon outward displays of omnipotent power ALONE to prove His nature, identity or divine Sonship to the Father. Itwas not until age 30 that He was baptized in the Jordan beginning of His 3 ½ yearministry. This was a fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecy concerning Him,

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me. The Lord has anointed me to preach the goodtidings [gospel] to the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, toproclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God;to comfort all that mourn; 3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give untothem beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spiritof heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of theLORD, that he might be glorified. – Isa 61:1-3

The ministry described here is the ministry Christ’s disciples are to follow.

The following verses indicate that the anointing of the Spirit – especially in Jesus’ casewas equivalent to Him receiving a fresh bestowal of power – AS OUR HUMAN EXAMPLE.He already possessed divine power BEFORE His baptism but His baptism was an examplefor us to follow in order to “fulfill all righteousness.”

Notice the tight connection between the Holy Spirit and divine power “But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression ” – Mic 3:8

“Not by might, nor by power , but by my spirit , saith the LORD ”. – Zec 4:6 “But if it is by the Spirit of God that I drive out demon s, then the kingdom of God hascome upon you” – Matt 12:28

“Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about” – Luke 4:14

Some will point out that during His ministry in adulthood, a number of times Jesusdepended on the Father to perform miraculous works. Acts 2:22; 10:38; John 11:40-42;Matt 26:53. Some are settled in their presupposition by asking; does omnipotence lackpower? And it is true that if we were to ask: - Does a person naturally possessing

“It was poverty that as He passed to and fro among the subjects He cameto save, scarcely a solitary voice called Him blessed, scarcely a solitaryhand was stretched out in friendship, and scarcely a solitary roof proffered Him shelter. Then look beneath the disguise, and whom do wesee?-- Divinity, the Eternal Son of God, just as mighty, just as infinitelygifted with all the resources of power , and He was found in fashion as aman.” {15MR 25 . 3}

omnipotence need to tap into a power outside itself to perform miracles? The answer isnaturally ‘no’. Yet here we need to factor in a major context. Jesus needed to be ourperfect example. It seems He did naturally possess those powers but kept them

“quiescent” or dormant on occasions that would have been merely for His own benefit.Instead, He did not hesitate to draw upon those powers for the benefit of others or for the sake of the kingdom when the Father purposed. Advocates of the other ideawill refer to the following quotes in argument against this divine quiescent principle.Therefore we need to unpack this quotation by contextually examining it.

“The miracles of Christ for the afflicted and suffering were wrought by the power of God through the ministration of angles ” – DA 143.1 (See Appendix A for morequotations linking Christ’s miracles with the ministration of angels)

“When Jesus was awakened to meet the storm, He was in perfect peace. There wasno trace of fear in word or look, for no fear was in His heart. But He rested not inthe possession of almighty power . It was not as the "Master of earth and sea andsky" that He reposed in quiet. That power He had laid down , and He says, "I canof Mine own self do nothing." John 5:30. He trusted in the Father's might. It was infaith--faith in God's love and care--that Jesus rested , and the power of that wordwhich stilled the storm was the power of God.” – DA 336

From a hasty reading of this quote, it is easy to make the assumption that Jesus laid aside His divinepowers in taking on humanity. But is that true? Or is there something we have failed to factor into thisquotation? Reading the quote carefully, we see it is in the context of Jesus’ relationship of trust in HisFather, in the context of His own protection and safety from the storm. Although others were in theboat with the Savior, we need to understand Jesus NEVER ONCE performed a miracle to free Himself

from danger, although He certainly could have if He had so chosen. But had He chosen to, the wholeof humanity would have suffered the unthinkable, tragic and irreversible consequences andramifications of such a choice. Here is one quote of many more that will be presented shortly.

“Christ was put to the closest test, requiring the strength of all His faculties toresist the inclination when in danger, to use His power to deliver Himself fromperil, and triumph over the power of the prince of darkness.” (RH April 1, 1875 par1).

Jesus always trusted in His Father’s protection. Another couple of example other than thesituation with the storm is 1. when the Jews attempted to throw stones at Him forclaiming to be the great “I Am”. Angels of God hid and protected Him (John 8:57-59). 2When the enraged Jews cast Him out of the city and attempted to violently throw Him off the hilltop. (Luke 4:29-31)

The following two quotations seem to say the very opposite to the DA 336 quotationabove that states Christ “ rested not in the possession of almighty power” . . . . . “that

power He laid down”.

complies with “the rules of engagement” qualifying as our example.

The following quotes reveal Christ’s miracles were never used for His own behalf.

VITAL PRINCIPLE/KEY: CHRIST NEVER PERFORMEDMIRACLES TO LESSON HIS OWN BURDENS

“But when the multitudes saw it, [the healing of the paralytic] they marvelled,and glorified God , which had given such power unto men .” – Matt 9:8

“It was as difficult for him to keep the level of humanity as it is for mento rise above the low level of their depraved natures, and be partakers of thedivine nature.”{RH, Apr 1, 1875 par 2}

“He learned a trade, and with His own hands worked in the carpenter's shopwith Joseph………. He did not employ His divine power to lessen Hisburdens or to lighten His toil .” {DA 72.3} (Does this mean Jesus could notuse His Divine power?)

“The archdeceiver hoped that under the force of despondency and extremehunger, Christ would lose faith in his Father, work a miracle in his ownbehalf, and take Himself out of his Father's hands. Had He done this, the planof salvation would have been broken; for it was contrary to its terms thatChrist should work a miracle in his own behalf . Throughout his life onearth, his power must be exercised for the good of suffering humanityalone …” {BEcho, November 15, 1892} See DA 119.2

“Sufferings of Deity; Satan led the cruel mob in its abuse of the Saviour. Itwas his purpose to provoke Him to retaliation if possible, or to drive Him toperform a miracle to release Himself, and thus break up the plan of salvation”.{DA 734.3}

“ As a man He met temptation and overcame in the strength given Him fromGod” – DA 24.2

“With intense and painful interest all wait for the test of Christ's divinity , theevidence that is to substantiate His claim to be the Son of God, or toextinguish the hope forever.” {DA 536.2}

Also you will notice how vitally important it was for Christ not for one moment toperform a miracle to serve His own purposes. As one quote implies: As a man He must

“keep the level of humanity” and this was not an easy task.

“And He knew that in a moment, by the flashing forth of His divine power , Hecould lay His cruel tormentors in the dust. This made the trial the harder tobear.” {DA 700.3}

It was a difficult task for Christ to keep His divinity veiled because: -

“….when Christ was treated with contempt there was a powerful temptation toreveal His heavenly character , and to compel His persecutors to admit that theLord was above kings and potentates, priests and temple. But it was His difficulttask to maintain the level of humanity. ” – 3 SP 260.1

For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form – Col 2:9 NAS

The Son of God Naturally Possessed Divine Power That Could Not Wholly BeHidden

“There were occasions when Jesus stood forth while in human flesh as the Sonof God. Divinity flashed through humanity , and was seen by the scoffingpriests and rulers… When Christ's indwelling glory flashed forth, it was too intensefor His pure and perfect humanity entirely to conceal.” {5BC 1129.5}

“For a moment the divinity of Christ flashed through His guise of humanity . The high priest quailed before the penetrating eyes of the Saviour.That look seemed to read his hidden thoughts , and burn into his heart. Neverin afterlife did he forget that searching glance of the persecuted Son of God” . {DA 707.2}

“He felt that this was no common man ; for divinity had flashed throughhumanity. At the very time when Christ was encompassed by mockers,adulterers, and murderers, Herod felt that he was beholding a God upon Histhrone. ” {DA 731.3}

Here we see when divinity flashed through Christ’s humanity people knew this was noordinary man. But what about the prophets of old like Moses who had to put a veil overhis face, Elijah and Elisha (1 Kings 17; 2 Kings 4,5) and the disciples performed miracles,Stephen when being stoned “had the face of an angel” (Acts 6:15). Some argue weren’tthey also filled with God’s divinity? Didn’t they on occasions raise the dead? (Acts20:9,10). Didn’t they receive divine revelations? (Gal 1:11,12; Rev 1:1), and performvarious miracles? (Acts 3:1-16; 5:3-9) Indeed they did, but these miracles were not asconsistent or as inherently natural as they were with the divine Son of God.

“The miracles of Christ are called His works. They were performed with a quiet dignity,and yet as easily as we perform our daily duties, for they were natural to Hischaracter.” {18MR 116.1}

Those men however were still channels for God’s Spirit as the heavenly angels workedalongside them. And although the Son of God was eternally invested with infinitelygreater power, He never once used that power for His own unfair advantage to relieveHimself from, hunger, temptation, difficulty or trial. In this way He is not only our Savior

and very life, but He is still humanities perfect example of submission and faith in HisFather.

“But although Christ's divine glory was for a time veiled and eclipsed by Hisassuming humanity, yet He did not cease to be God when He became man. Thehuman did not take the place of the divine, nor the divine of the human. This is themystery of godliness. The two expressions "human" and "divine" were, in Christ,closely and inseparably one, and yet they had a distinct individuality. ThoughChrist humbled Himself to become man, the Godhead [divinity] was still His own.His deity could not be lost while He stood faithful and true to His loyalty.Surrounded with sorrow, suffering, and moral pollution, despised and rejected bythe people to whom had been intrusted the oracles of heaven, Jesus could yetspeak of Himself as the Son of man in heaven. He was ready to take once more Hisdivine glory when His work on earth was done.” {5BC 1129.3} (emphasis added)

8/3/2019 The 3-Fold “Omni” Paradox (Pentecostal Era)

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/the-3-fold-omni-paradox-pentecostal-era 14/31

14

"Verily, verily, I say unto you," Christ continued, "He that believeth on Me, the worksthat I do shall he do also." The Saviour was deeply anxious for His disciples tounderstand for what purpose His divinity was united to humanity. He came to theworld to display the glory of God, that man might be uplifted by its restoring power.God was manifested in Him that He might be manifested in them. Jesus revealedno qualities, and exercised no powers, that men may not have through faithin Him . His perfect humanity is that which all His followers may possess, if they willbe in subjection to God as He was.

"And greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto My Father." By thisChrist did not mean that the disciples' work would be of a more exalted characterthan His, but that it would have greater extent. He did not refer merely to miracleworking, but to all that would take place under the working of the Holy Spirit.” (DA664)

So far we have given considerable attention to Christ’s pre-existence and His miracle-filled incarnated life. We will now turn our attention to His present-day ministry in theheavenly sanctuary. We will explore why this was a turning point in redemptive historyand how His death provided access to one of the greatest gifts ever bestowed upon Hischurch.

Two Immeasurable Promises, Two Inestimable Gifts ! In the New Covenant the Bible refers to four redemptive gifts, which were promises that camethrough Christ. 1. The promise of a Savior (Acts 13:22; Gal 3:29) 2. Christ’s gift of sacrifice onCalvary’s cross. We considered this inestimable gift in the previous study. Briefly reviewing this,this infinite gift was ratified when God gave up His precious only begotten Son. God’s onlybegotten eternal Son was the greatest gift He could possibly give to EVERY single person in theworld for “justification of [extended probationary] life”. (Rom 5:16). When God gave us His Son,Heaven’s pockets were empty. When appropriated, this gift gives access to the third redemptivegift. In Scripture this is referred to as 3. “the free gift”, “the gift by grace”, “the gift of

righteousness”, “the gift of God”, “the gift of Christ”, the “promise of the spirit” also stated by theApostle Paul to be the “promise of life”, and “the law [principle] of the Spirit of life” in Christ Jesus(Gal 3:14; Eph 1:13; 1 Tim 4:8; 2 Tim 1:1; Rom 8:2,10; Rev 11:11.) These all refer to “theeverlasting gospel” which is the basis of justification by faith . (Rom 5:15,15; 6:23; Eph 2:8; 4:7;John 4:10; Rom 1:16). So here we see 1. the promised gift of a Savior 2. the gift of probationarylife through His sacrifice and 3. the gift of eternal life through righteousness by faith. We want tofocus now on the fourth gift.

The gift of righteousness and grace are very tightly linked to the fourth subsequent gift that was promised long ago in types and shadows under the Lord’s annual festival of Pentecost which wasmarked by the giving of the law of righteousness (the ten commandments) to Moses – fifty daysafter Passover. The outpouring of the Spirit at Pentecost could not be fully experienced until

AFTER the death of Christ. That is when this fourth heavenly gift of inestimable value could be “unwrapped”. Let’s take a moment to explore this.

In Rev 5:6 the Son of God is depicted as a Lamb that HAD been slain standing in the midst of theheavenly throne having seven eyes and seven horns. (We will talk more about this Lamb shortly,after we first lay a foundation). If we look close enough, we see it was during the actual event of the slaying of the Lamb that some precious redemptive mysteries began to unfold. So exactlywhen was the antitypical Lamb of God (Christ) slain? Luke answers this.

“And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him , and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.” (Luke23:33)

“ Him , being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye havetaken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain :” - Acts 2:23

After Jesus yielded up His Spirit and bowed his head, the soldiers pierced His side just to makesure He was dead. Notice the words recorded by the apostle John

“But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side , and forthwith came there outblood and water .” John 19:34

Christ was slain at the cross when the Passover lamb was slain. (Acts 2:23; Matt 26:2, 18; 1 Cor5:7). The water and the blood spoken of here are highly significant. The blood (Christ’s given life)represents justification (Zec 13:1; Rom 5:9) and sanctification (Heb 13:12) through Christ’ssacrificed humanity. And the water also represents Justification and sanctification – (John 3:5;4:13; Isa 53:12; Titus 3:5). You cannot separate justification and sanctification. The two bringabout 1. Forgiveness / cleansing and 2. New spiritual life bestowed by the Holy Spirit as mentionedbelow,

“When the soldier pierced the side of Jesus as He hung upon the cross, there came outtwo distinct streams, one of blood, the other of water. The blood was to wash away thesins of those who should believe in His name, and the water was to represent thatliving water which is obtained from Jesus to give life to the believer .” – EW 209(Comp Heb 9:19

For the sake of anyone who possibly has not yet grasped what has been said, I ask, what is this

living water that gives new life to the believer? Apart from the immediate salvation which Christoffers to the truly repentant (John 3:1- 5-18; 4:10-13), more specifically, according to John, theliving water that Christ offered people at the feast of tabernacles pointed to something yet future.It was the future promise of the Holy Spirit “which WAS NOT YET given ” (John 7:39) in itsfullness because “Christ was not yet glorified”. In other words, as we have studied in “Power tolay it down and power to take it again”, this glorification of Christ during His coronation took placeAFTER His death and ascension to heaven and initiated Pentecost and then the Spirit WAS given init’s fullness.

The Holy Spirit’s job is to accomplish a number of things, but in short it is to, 1. To convict us of sin (John 16:8), 2. Cause us to confess and acknowledge our guilt (I John 1:9; Jer 3:13) 3. Causeus to genuinely repent of our sin (Acts 5:31; Isa 61:1-3; 2 Chron. 7:14) in order to be justified(John 3:5) in order to receive the water of life to be sanctified. The outpouring of the Spirit atPentecost was God’s crowning gift for Holy zeal and service - power for a finished work (See AA p.37; John 7:37-39; Acts 1:22; 2:1-6).

When Jesus’ lifeless form was hanging on the cross, after He gave up the ghost, then the timewas soon to come that would be the beginning of the out-flowing of the Holy Spirit power in alarge measure. (Acts 1:4; 2:1-6) This spiritual power was * promised beforehand by the Father tocome upon all truehearted believers. It was called the “promise of the Father” - not to be confusedwith “the promise of life” mentioned earlier. (See *Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4; Acts 2:33, 39). Noticehow the water (life) and blood (Christ’s given life) – both symbols of life – are linked tosanctification,

“Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the

Spirit [water of life], unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Graceunto you, and peace, be multiplied” 1 Pet 1:2 (Bracketed comment added. Comparewith Heb 9:19)

“This is he that came by water and blood , even Jesus Christ; not by water only, butby water and blood . And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit istruth.” 1 John 5:6

In the book of Acts, Christ is called the “prince of life” who was killed by wicked men yet “whomGod hath raised from the dead” – Acts 3:15. After He was raised to life again the Father and Sonwere able to send the promised gift. (John 14:16,26; Luke 24:49; John 15:26) Keep in mind it isa usual custom that generally valuable gifts are given at certain special occasions and therefore

cannot be received and opened before that time. For want of a better example, it’s a bit likeChristmas, weddings and birthdays – one doesn’t either present or unwrap the gifts beforehand.Christ promised to send the gift of the Holy Spirit to equip the disciples for service and mission in

testifying for the risen Christ. This was the gift they were to expectantly “wait for” (Luke 24:49;Acts 1:4, 8, 22). That is why Scripture refers to the Holy Spirit as a promised “gift”.

“ Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (Acts 2:38)“ And….on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.” Acts 10:45

Furthermore Jesus, the “prince of life’s” bestowal of the Holy Spirit is the “earnest” (down

payment) 2 Cor 5:5; Eph 1:14 of our glorious inheritance.

“Thus saith the Lord GOD; If the prince give a gift unto any of his sons , theinheritance thereof shall be his sons'; it shall be their possession by inheritance ” (Eze 4:16)

In view of what was said earlier, it should also be noted the other promised gift of theHoly Spirit (“the Spirit of grace”) was global in its nature and influence. It was not limited

to one single location. That is why it is described in Scripture in the following semi-symbolic ways

The manifold grace / the Grace multiplied / the seven Spirits of God/ the seven eyes / the manifold wisdom of God

“The manifold grace of God” is the “spirit of grace”. (1 Pet 4:10.) See Zec 12:10; Heb 10:29.Grace is inseparable to the Holy Spirit. See Luke 2:40; Gal 6:18; Phil 1:25;).

“Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of theSpirit , unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you….be multiplied ” (1 Pet 1:2)

The word “manifold” in 1 Pet 4:10 and Eph 3:10 have almost identical Greek meanings. In Eph 3:10the pronunciation is: po-lü-poi'-kē-los. From πολ ύ ς (G4183) and ποικ ί λος (G4164) . It means,

1) much variegated, marked with a great variety of coloursa) of cloth or a painting2) much varied, manifold

God’s grace shines through in a great variety of colors. I was a professional artistfor a number of years and I simply love that meaning of God’s grace.

“ As every man hath received the gift , even so minister the same one to another, asgood stewards of the manifold grace of God . (1 Pet 4:10)

“To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be

The “prince of life” has given His world-church two inestimable gifts.1. He gave His life for the world. 2. He gives us the promised Comforter. In giving His life, Christ the “everlasting Father” of

redemption (Isa 9:6) is able to give His second promised gift. Hebestows the precious gift of the Spirit to “his sons” of redemption.

And it shall be His children’s “possession” by the “promise of eternal inheritance” Heb 9:15!!! (Eph 1:11; 1:14,18; Col 1:12; 1 Pet 1:4)

known by the church the manifold [like a great variety of colours] wisdom of God ” (Eph 3:10)

In speaking of the “manifold” works of God, David the Psalmist goes on to say “in wisdom” hasGod made them all: and “ the earth is full of [His] riches” (Psm 104:24)

Power to witness

Jesus prayed, “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, thathe may abide with you for ever ; John 14:16

God’s purpose for the coming comforter was not only for power to witness. But it wasalso for the Holy Spirit to abide with us forever ! The ONLY reason the Holy Spirit canabide with believers forever is because of Christ’s resurrection! Notice,

Why the Holy Spirit could not be given in its fullness duringChrist’s life before His death and resurrection

___________________________________________________________

CHRIST’S 33-YEAR INCARNATE LIFE: (“THE HOLY SPIRIT WASNOT YETGIVEN ” IN ITS FULNESS. JOHN7:39) ________________________________________________________________________CHRIST’S DEATH, BURIEL, RESURECTION, ASCENSION AND GLORIFICATION (ANOINTING AS GREATHIGH PREIST. HEB 1:8,9)

THE HOLY SPIRITNOW GIVEN IN ITS FULNESS BECAUSEIF THERE WAS NO RESURECTION THERE

WOULD BE NO ASCENSION. ANDIF THERE WAS NO ASCENSION THERE WOULD BE NO GLORIFICATIONAND IF THERE WAS NO GLORIFICATION THERE WOULD BE NO GREAT HIGH PREIST. ANDIF THEREWERE NONE OF THESE THERE WOULD BE NO GOSPEL, NO SALVATION, NO CONVICTION, NO POWERNO FUTURE HOPE OF GLORY AND, NO NEED, OR USE, FOR THE HOLY SPIRIT. IT’S THAT SIMPLE. (115:14,15)

“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christdied for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and thathe rose again the third day according to the scriptures:……… And if Christ be

not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain . Yea,and we are found false witnesses of God ; because we have testified of Godthat he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead risenot.” – 1 Cor 15:3,4,14,15

Notice that a person could not really be a witness of Christ if He had not risen from thedead. Because he would have nothing to tell!! The fact is that He did rise from the deadand death had no power over Him.

In Summary: There are many gifts that God has poured out upon His church. But theone that is most relevant to this study is the gift of the Spirit that was made possiblethrough the TOTAL 100% unselfish giving of Christ through His life and sacrifice.

In contemplation of these things concerning the Spirit we have laid a foundation that willlead us into the next concluding section. So far we have studied the omniscience andomnipotence of Christ. We will study the final omni and that one is omnipresence. Wasomnipresence naturally part of Christ’s nature? If so, was it His pre-existent nature, Hisincarnate nature or His new glorious human- divine nature?

OmnipresenceLiving as a man “in every respect” Jesus could not possibly freely mingle among peoplein Jerusalem, England, China or Australia at the same time. Even in His own localityJesus had to travel about by boat, horseback or foot to make personal contact withpeople from different regions thus proving He did not naturally and independentlypossess omnipresence as He did in His former glory. See John 11:7,17-21. (Isomnipresence confined to one geographical location?) These are things we cannot affordto ignore.

“The Holy Spirit is Christ's representative, but divested of the personality of humanity , and independent thereof. Cumbered with humanity , Christ could not bein every place personally. Therefore it was for their interest that He should go to the

Father, and send the Spirit to be His successor on earth. No one could then have anyadvantage because of his location or his personal contact with Christ. By the Spiritthe Saviour would be accessible to all. In this sense He would be nearer to them thanif He had not ascended on high” – DA 669

When Christ was cumbered with humanity certain people had an “advantage because of [their] location or personal contact with Christ”. Therefore Christ indeed needed to be

“divested” of His self-limiting, mortal human body in order to function in an omnipresentway. Christ in His glorified incorruptible human nature NOW has the ability to be presentwith people personally THROUGH His Holy Spirit. Divested means

1. take something away from somebody

2. make somebody give up something3. make somebody take something off 4. give away property rights

Although Christ cannot be compared to the disciples, the definitions for divested mayremind us of the words of the apostle Peter who said

“Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle [body], even as ourLord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.” – 2 Pet 1:14 (Bracketed comments added)

Christ still bore humanity after His resurrection. He had a physical identifiable formcomprised of “flesh and bones” (Luke 24:39,40) He manifested the same characteristics

He had before He died (Luke 24:30). He even ate the food that was placed before Him(Luke 24:41-43). Although human, Christ is now in a form bright and glorious like theangels. You could say His human form would be more comparable to the holy pair beforethe fall. Adam and Eve were “naked and not ashamed” because they were clothed ingarments of light like the angels and even like God Himself. (See Gen 1:27; Gen 2:25;Psm 104:1-4; Heb 1:6-9)

Notice that the disciples were to “have the [non-physical] presence of Christ with them” after He was resurrected, put off His former body for an incorruptible one, and ascendedto heaven to be crowned, exalted and glorified. That is when His omnipresence couldfreely function unencumbered with the personality of humanity. That’s when the promise

of the omnipresent comforter would come in its fullness.

According to the gospel of John it appears that after the resurrection Christ had a

dimension to Him that was profoundly supernatural. For example He seemed to have theangelic ability to float through closed doors! When the disciples were assembled andhiding behind closed doors “for fear of the Jews” out of the blue He suddenly appeared tothem! In fact, He did this on two separate occasions. (John 20:19,26) Then He didsomething that identified the nature and DIRECT source of the Holy Spirit and illustratedthe way in which it would be imparted.

“ Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even

so send I you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them,Receive ye the Holy Ghost:” John 20:21,22

“Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go notaway, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.” – John 16:7 KJV

“The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, heshall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I havesaid unto you. - John 14:26.

“That Christ should manifest Himself to them, and yet be invisible to the world, was amystery to the disciples. They could not understand the words of Christ in their spiritual

sense. They were thinking of the outward, visible manifestation. They could not take inthe fact that they could have the presence of Christ with them, and yet He beunseen by the world. They did not understand the meaning of a spiritualmanifestation . – E.G. White, Reflecting Christ, Page 129, Chapter 115—The HolySpirit, Representative of Christ

In Summary: Christ may well have possessed the attribute of omnipresence on earthhad He not voluntarily decided to take upon human nature. Being encumbered with afallen nature identical to you and I, (Rom 1:3; 8:3; Heb 2:17) He could not beeverywhere present. After His resurrection and glorification He could. When His discipleswere assembled together it seems He was in the transition of this. He illustrated to themhow the breath of life would come to them and to WHOM it would come from. We will seeeven more so in the final section of this study as we decode some profound crypticpassages in Revelation. Now that Jesus possesses His former glorious body, He has allthe attributes of His former glory including omniscience.

Omnipresence Regained: “ …power, and riches, andwisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory andblessing” given to the Lamb – Rev 5: 11,12

The cryptic 7- horned, 7-eyed Lamb_________________________________________________________________

DecodingRevelation’sCryptic Sevens

7 Stars =7 Angels.7 Candlesticks =7 Churches / light…7 Horns & Eyes =7 Spirits Sent

Forth to All theEarth

THE LAMB WITH 7 EYES AND 7 HORNS __________________________________________________________________

There is a message in the throne room scene of Revelation 5. Christ is pictured as a slainLamb. We know Christ’s death as Passover lamb did not take place in Heaven but onearth. Therefore the Lamb represents His humanity. The throne represents heavenlyoriginating glory/divinity/divine immortal life (Isa 22:23; Jer 17:12; Psm 47:8; Matt5:34; Rev 22:1). Therefore the combination of the Lamb and the throne suggests thelink between humanity and divinity. Being “Made like unto His brethren” Christ assumedhumanity. He was human He is divine.

Christ’s COMPLETE glorification occurred immediately after His anointing and coronationas High priest-king in the New Covenant heavenly sanctuary. (Read about it in Acts of the Apostles p. 38,39). This glorious prophetic event occurred during a ten-day ceremonyprior Pentecost. That’s when He was “highly exalted” to receive “ALL power” See John7:37-39; Heb 1:8,9; Acts 1:3,4; 2:1; Matt 28:18-20. The dynamics resulting from thisglorification are further indicated in Rev 5:6 under the symbolic representations of theslain Lamb in the midst of God’s throne.

“And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in themidst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns andseven eyes , which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth” - Rev5:6

“The 7 eyes also speak of omnipresence because they are the 7 spirits of God whichgo forth into all the earth. This same language is used in Zechariah 3 and 4 wherethe Son is depicted in relationship to the Father as the “headstone” which is “brought

forth” and set before the “great mountain.” This stone is first mentioned in chapter 3where it is described with having 7 eyes. Then again in chapter 4 “those seven” aresaid to be “the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth.” AndJesus says that he “has the seven Spirits of God” (Rev 3:1); they are his possession.” – Gary Hullquist, group correspondence, May 10, 2011

In relevance to our study, Revelation speaks of 7 stars, 7 Spirits, 7 eyes and 7 horns.Why the number 7? The number seven (7) is a number of divine origin. It denotesperfection and divinely originated global completeness. The literal seventh daySabbath is the strongest indication. It marked a complete weekly cycle relating to heavenand earth. (Gen 2:2,3:15). When the number 7 is used symbolically in things belongingto Christ, it refers to an attribute which functions on a global scale. Candidly reading thebook of Revelation one can readily see it is replete with references to the number sevenin association with things that continue to play out globally.

The divine prerogatives Christ temporarily laid down during the “days of His flesh” while “encumbered (weighed down) with the personality of humanity” began to be reinstatedto Him after His death, resurrection, ascension and glorification. Christ’s life was

“perfected” (mission complete) after voluntarily becoming the sacrifice as depicted by thesymbolic risen slain Lamb. (Luke 13:32; Heb 10:14; John 12:23,24,27,28). It seems thiswas key to Him in receiving His glory, majesty and omnipresence power back. That iswhy He is NOW seen in the first apartment of the heavenly sanctuary either as a whiterobed priest of indescribable glory (Rev 1:13-16) or as a Lamb having "seven horns" and"seven eyes" or "seven Spirits of God". (The eyes represent both the omniscience andomnipresence of the glorified unencumbered Christ.)

“ Christ took the form of a servant, and offered sacrifice, Himself the priest , Himself the victim .” - DA p. 25

The seven horns represent power, strength and protection or warnings of coming judgment. Deut 33:17; Joshua 6:4, 8,2,13-20; 1 Kin 1:51. Horns sometimes signify

kingdom/s and authority also. Either way, Christ now possesses power, authority, akingdom, ultimate protection for His people, and through the Revelation He gave to Hisangel to give to the apostle John He warns of coming judgments signified by the seventrumpets. Psm 22:21; 69:31; Dan 7:8,20,24. Notice below, 7 trumpets of ram’s HORNSwere blown by the priests on the seventh-day Sabbath as they marched around the cityof Jericho. Such tremendous mysterious power attended this divine procession thatamazingly the walls of Jericho tumbled down.

Joshua 6:13 And seven priests bearing seven trumpets of rams' horns before theark of the LORD went on continually, and blew with the trumpets: and the armedmen went before them; but the rereward came after the ark of the LORD , the

priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets. 20 So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came topass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted witha great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into thecity, every man straight before him, and they took the city.

The conquest over Jericho through the blowing of the trumpets signifies the victoryobtainable ONLY by God’s grace through the power Holy Spirit. The walls of Jerichorepresent the mental and emotional barriers we put up, the walls to disguise cherishedsins. The grace and power of Christ’s Spirit motivates and empowers us to pull downthese spiritual strongholds and thus gain victory over the enemy. (2 Cor 10:4)

“Nothing but Christ’s loving compassion, his divine grace, his almighty power , canenable us to baffle the relentless foe, and subdue the opposition of our own hearts.” –RH, Mar 31, 1904

The book of Joel also depicts the moving of the Holy Spirit amidst end-time judgments inconnection with the warning trumpet (horn) blast.

An example of the symbolic usage of horns is presented in a prophecy of the powerattributed to the nail pierced hands of Christ in the event of sacrifice.

“And his brightness was as the light ; he had horns [power] coming out of hishand: and there [in His hands] was the hiding of his power ” - Hab 3:4

We could also factor in that the hands may signify sacrifice and service and that’s whereChrist’s power was. The other symbols are the symbolic 7 eyes and 7 Spirits . These arethought to signify Christ’s complete perception and unrestricted non-physical personalpresence (divine spiritual life) promised after He went back to His Father. Thisomnipresence of Christ was not possible prior to His death as indicated by the words of the apostle John concerning Christ’s literal and antitypical invitation to drink in His Spiritof life (the living water) during the Lord’s annual feast of Tabernacles.

“ But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: forthe Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified” [anointed / crowned /exalted / reinstated with power] John 7:39. (See Heb 1: 8, 9)

Christ was not mincing words here. He meant what He said. In fact He repeated thisprinciple in a discussion with His disciples hoping to encourage them in view of theforeshadowing His approaching death.

“ Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away : for if I go not away , the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send himunto you” – John 16:7

Although the Holy Spirit of God operated during the patriarchal age in a general “markedmanner” it appears from this text it could not be given in its Pentecostal “FULNESS” untilthe perfection-exaltation- glorification-anointing-coronation of the risen Christ in

heavenly sanctuary above. (AA p. 37 affirms this)

“When Christ passed within the heavenly gates, He was enthroned amidst theadoration of the angels. As soon as this ceremony was completed, the HolySpirit descended upon the disciples in rich currents, and Christ was indeedglorified , even with the glory which He had with the Father from all eternity. ThePentecostal outpouring was Heaven's communication that the Redeemer'sinauguration was accomplished. According to His promise He had sent the Holy Spiritfrom heaven to His followers as a token that He had, as priest and king, received allauthority in heaven and on earth, and was the Anointed One over His people.” – AAp. 38,39

The Eye of Omniscience and Omnipresence Now consider some verses that explain what God’s symbolic eyes represent.

“ For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth , to shewhimself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.” 1 Chron16:9

The LORD is in heaven while He visits the earth through His eyes (Spirit) “The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD'S throne is in heaven: his eyes

behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.” – Psm 11:4

The eyes of the Lord are His omnipresent Spirit “The eyes of the LORD are in every place , beholding the evil and the good’.

– Prov 15:3

The eyes of God are His glory (character)

“ For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and theirdoings are against the LORD , to provoke the eyes of his glory .” – Isa 3:8

By now it should be clear to the reader that eyes signify not only omniscience but God’sall pervasive presence also.

Here are a few Spirit of Prophecy quotations and Bible verses to consider

"Who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks" (Rev. 2: 1). ThisScripture shows Christ's relation to the churches. He walks in the midst of Hischurches throughout the length and breadth of the earth. He watches themwith intense interest to see whether they are in such a condition spiritually that theycan advance His kingdom. Christ is present in every assembly of the church . Heis acquainted with everyone connected with His service. He knows those whosehearts He can fill with the holy oil, that they may impart it to others. Those whofaithfully carry forward the work of Christ in our world, representing in word and worksthe character of God, fulfilling the Lord's purpose for them, are in His sight veryprecious. Christ takes pleasure in them as a man takes pleasure in a well - kept garden

and the fragrance of the flowers he has planted.No candlestick, no church, shines of itself. From Christ emanates all its light. The

church in heaven today is only the complement of the church on earth; but it is higher,grander-- perfect. The same divine illumination is to continue through eternal ages.The Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the light thereof. No church can have light if it fails to diffuse the glory it receives from the throne of God.” - God's Amazing Grace- Page 93

“The picture [in Revelation 1] reveals eternal vigilance. Christ is in the midst of theseven golden candlesticks, walking from church to church , from congregation tocongregation, from heart to heart. He that keepeth Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps.

If the candlesticks were left to the care of human beings, how often the light wouldflicker and go out! But God has not given His church into the hands of men. Christ, theOne who gave His life for the world, that all who believe in Him may not perish buthave everlasting life, is the Watchman of the house. He is the Warder, faithful andtrue, of the temple courts of the Lord.

Christ walks in the midst of His churches through the length and breadth of the earth.He looks with intense interest to see whether His people are in such a conditionspiritually that they can advance His kingdom. He is present in every assembly of thechurch . He knows those whose hearts He can fill with the holy oil, that theymay impart it to others . Those who faithfully carry forward the work of Christ,representing in word and deed the character of God, fulfill the Lord's purpose for them,

and Christ takes pleasure in them.” {LHU 318.4}

God’s Spirit is often called the “Spirit of wisdom” which He gave in regulated degrees toHis faithful servants. (See Ex 28:3; 31:3; Deut 34:9; Isa 11:2; Dan 5:11; Luke 2:40; 1Cor 12:8; Eph 1:17; Spirit used in creation Psm 104:30)

Now let’s return to a couple of passages that employ the symbolism of the seven eyes. “Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: forthey are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH .For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seveneyes : behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the LORD of hosts, and I willremove the iniquity of that land in one day . For who hath despised the day of

small things?... with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD , which run toand fro through the whole earth.” Zec 3:8-10

Zechariah refers to this symbolic stone as the great headstone.

Scripture indicates the “stone” (rock) or “headstone” that came forth, will flatten theBabylonian counterfeit mountain and make it a plain (Jer 51:25; Isa 40:4). to makeroom for God’s Holy mountain-kingdom. (Psm 48:1,2; Dan 2: 34,35) Both the stone andthe “BRANCH” signify Christ. (See John 15:1-10; Luke 23:31; 1 Cor 10:4; Isa 28:16;

Matt 16:8; 1 Pet 2:7,8; Jer 23:5; Dan 2:34,35; Zec 6:12). Earths kingdoms willeventually fall not by war, force in bloody conquests but by the principles exemplified andlived out in harmony with God’s law. “Not by might not by power but by my Spirit saiththe Lord of hosts” (Zec 4:6).

It appears that from Zec 3:8-10 that the seven eyes of the stone (Christ) havesomething to do with the final atonement of “[removing] the iniquity of the land of Judahin one day”. Eyes indicate perception and the ability to search our hearts and convict of sin. Fire (related to eyes of fire) is to try and cleanse our hearts as the Father andglorified Son have the ability to do through their Spirit. (Prov 17:3; Psm 139:1-12; John14:17-19,23,26,28.)

Furthermore, Christ NOW holds in His hand “the [symbolic] keys of hell and of death”.Rev 1:18. These keys open up the graves of individuals who have fallen asleep under thesymbol of “hell and death” according to the judgment decisions. In 1844 Christ enteredthe Most Holy Place. It was impossible for any mortal being to open or shut the door of the heavenly phase of ministry. In other words, no mortal could “shut” (prevent) Christfrom entering through the “door” of the Most Holy Place in heaven to commence Hissecond phase of ministry in the investigative judgment. And neither could any mortal

“open” or reenter into mercy and judgment once Christ has finished that work whenprobation closes. Christ has power and control over the “seven stars” (angels) indicatedby the fact they are in His right hand. Rev 2:18; 3:1. The seven stars are the “[seven]

angels” and the angels are the “seven Spirits of God”. In other words the seven stars,seven angels, seven eyes and the seven Spirits of God (Holy Spirit) all intimatelyinterplay together for redemptive purposes. Rev 5:6. Ultimately the seven eyes “WHICHARE THE SEVEN SPIRITS OF GOD” are manifest in Christ’s non-physical omnipresenceand spiritual resurrecting power.

The Spirit = Life, Light and Living Water

Christ and His Spirit is a fountain of “life”

How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the

children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thyhouse; and thou shalt make them drink of thy pleasures .For with thee is the fountain of life : in thy light [truth] shallwe see light [truth] (Psm. 36:7-9, bracketed commentsadded).

The Spirit is like a River of Life Flowing From God and

Christ

And he shewed me a pure river of water of life , clear as

crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and the Lamb.In the midst of the street of it, and either side of the river ,was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits,and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the treewere for the healing of the nations (Rev. 22:1, 2).

In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst , let him come unto me and drink . He that believeth on me, as the scripturehath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water . (But this spake he of theSpirit , which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yetgiven; because Jesus was not yet glorified) John 7:37-39).

The Spirit is a crystal stream flowing from the throne of God and the LambAnd he shewed me a pure river of water of life , clear as crystal, proceeding out of thethrone of God and the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and either side of the river , was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruitevery month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations (Rev. 22:1,2).

The Spirit “makes glad” promising lasting “pleasure” and “satisfaction” to God ʼ scity (spiritual Jerusalem/His children)

There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy placeof the tabernacles of the most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved:God shall help her, and that right early (Psm. 46:4,5).

The Spirit testifies of “light”/“truth” John 14:17; 15:26; 16:13; 1 John 4:6)

The hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father inspirit and truth: (John 4:23)

The Spirit is likened to the life-giving words of Christ)

(Note: Words signify a persons mind and character. “Out of the abundance of theheart, the mouth speaketh”)

It is the spirit that quickeneth; [maketh alive] the flesh profiteth nothing; the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life (John 6:63).

(Continued from page 27.) Christ is no longer divested (encumbered/weighed down) byHis former humanity and has been bestowed ultimate resurrection power and authorityto judge and determine who is worthy for this first resurrection. John 5:27; 2 Cor 5:10.

In conclusion: Christ indeed originally possessed the four attributes of un-borrowed,

underived immortal life, all knowledge, the unrestrained ability to be everywhere presentand unlimited power before the incarnation. To the astonishment of men and extremeinterest of angels ( 1 Tim 3:16; 1 Pet 1:12) He temporarily and voluntarily left His formerglory and chose to lay down two (2) divine attributes during “the days of His flesh” – Hisomnipresence at birth and His immortal life at death. (Phil 2: 7-10)This was necessary to qualify in every respect with the plan of salvation, which includedpaying the penalty of transgression under the claims of justice built within the moral lawof life. He also proved beyond question that men, and women, can overcome sin and livelives of righteousness by submission and faith just as He did. And because He met deathFULLY and COMPLETELY the Father raised Him up to be glorified and reinstated with Hisformer attributes. Hallelujah!

“ And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness : God was manifestin the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles,believed on in the world, received up into glory ”. – 1 Tim 3:16

“Have this mind in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: who, existing in the form of God, counted not the being on an equality with God a thing to be grasped, butemptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men;and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, becoming obedient [even]unto death, yea, the death of the cross. Wherefore also God highly exalted him, andgave unto him the name which is above every name; that in the name of Jesusevery knee should bow, of [things] in heaven and [things] on earth and [things]under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to

the glory of God the Father.” – Phil 2:5-11 “… These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God , and the sevenstars;… ” - Rev 3:1

(Comp Rev 2:18 with Rev 5:6, Acts 2:3,4 and Heb 1:7 to see the symbolic linkagebetween burning fire, the 7 lamps of fire, 7 stars and the sevenfold Holy Spirit of Christ)

“And I beheld, and I heard the voice of manyangels round about the throne and the beastsand the elders: and the number of them was tenthousand times ten thousand, and thousands ofthousands; “Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, andriches , and wisdom , and strength, and honour,and glory, and blessing” – Rev 5:11-12

Amen, and Amen!!!

This about concludes our study. Christ is clearly seen as having power over the “sevenstars” and “seven angels” (sevenfold omnipresent Holy spirit) “in [His] right hand” (powerand ownership Psm 139:7-10; Ex 15:6). All that the Son of God laid down in takinghuman nature upon Him, heavenly wealth, wisdom, strength, honor…. He

triumphantly received back in glory.

Following this is a table which summarizes all we have considered thus far. There ishowever a couple of things we perhaps need to factor into this study and that is the issueof co-eternity and Christ’s relational submission and eternal dependence

The Holy Alpha and Omega:

However, in order to prevent us from attempting to negate the fact Christ was at onetime begotten of the Father, the Holy Spirit inspired John the Revelator to attribute thename “Alpha and Omega” to the Son of God. This name is exclusive to the Son, as Alphameans “beginning” and His Father most certainly has no beginning therefore this titlecannot be ascribed to Him. Yet the eternal Son of God was “begotten OF the Father”.Omega means “End” yet there will be no end to the Father’s existence. Although the Sonis now an eternal glorified and highly exalted being who also will never have an end, inHis humanity He was called the “ last Adam”. (Rom 5:10-21; 1 Cor 15:45; In addition tothis, “Christ is the END of the law [of “sin and death”] for righteousness” Rom 10:4.Therefore there was one thing in His humanity the Alpha (“ firstborn of all Creation” Col1:15) and “Omega” (“ the last Adam”) brought to an end and - glory to God - that was

sin and death!!! (Dan 9:27.) Christ is “the beginning [Alpha] of the Creation of God” Mark 10:6; Rev 3:14 and He is the end (Omega) of redemption of the creation of God.

“For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once inthe end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself .” –Heb 9:26

Christ who originally experienced AND lived in the presence of all the fullness of theGodhead bodily, emptied Himself of His majesty and former heavenly glory along withHis divine prerogatives. At the close of His perfected life He was “received [back up] intoglory” and received His divine supernatural omnipresence, back.

Closing Thought: Furthermore God gave Christ "authority to execute judgment, also,because He is the Son of man." John 5:27.

“If He had been God in His own right, the Father could not have delegated to Christauthority in the execution of judgment but it was delegated to Him "because He is theSon of man." “I can of my own self do nothing." John 5:30.

Here Paul clearly teaches that God is not subject to Christ, but that Christis subject to the Father, who gave all authority to Him. Whatever Christ is,whatever authority He has, whatever attributes He possesses, all have beenimparted and bestowed upon Him by the Father, that the Father may be all inall and above all. Paul says, “Ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's." 1 Cor. 3:23.Again says Paul: "But I would have you know, that the head of every man isChrist ... and the head of Christ is God. " 1 Cor. 11:3. Christ Himself said: "Igo unto the Father; for my Father is greater than I .” John 14:28. –Published Article, The Deity Of Christ, C.S. Longacre, 1947

1 Cor. 15:28, "when all things shall be subdued unto Him, (Christ) then shallthe Son also Himself be subject unto Him (God) that put all things underHim (Christ), that God may be all in all."

1 . “MICHAEL” IN HEAVEN (THE PRE-EXISTENT SON)

Extraordinary power to withstand extreme heat“He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire ,

and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God” – Dan 3:25

Extraordinary Strength and Power“But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but,

lo, Michael , one of the chief princes, [“your prince”, “the Prince of life” Dan 10:21; Acts3:15] came to help me….” – Dan 10:13

Former Glory “And now O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had

with thee before the world was ” – John 17:5

“Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son……by whom also he made theworlds; Who being the brightness of his glory , and the express image of his person,and upholding all things by the word of his power , - Heb 1: 2, 3

Extraordinary Wisdom / Strength / *Omnipresence (*See Gen 1:2; Psm139:1-13)

“Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I havestrength. By me kings reign, and princes decree justice. By me princes rule,and nobles, even all the judges of the earth. The LORD possessed me [“wisdom”–the pre-existent Son of God, see Matt 11:19; 1 Cor 1:24, 30] in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. I was set up fromeverlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was. – Prov 8: 14-16, 22,23.(*See also 2 Cor 3:17; John 4:24; 2 Pet 1:21; Isa 63:9)

2. ON EARTH: LIMITATIONS/RISK FACTORSHe Laid Aside His Glory, Royal Throne, Splendor, Majesty,Indescribable Glory and Omnipresence.

“And Jesus increased in wisdom ….and in favour with God and man” - Luke2:58

“For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave mea commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak” – John 12:49

“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christdied for our sins according to the scriptures” – 1 Cor 15:3

“For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life, that I may take itagain. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have power [frommy Father] to lay it down, and I have power [from my Father] to take it again; thischarge I have received from my Father.” – John 10:17-18 (Bracketed comments added)

DISCLAIMER: There are some things in this study that are very clear to me, and what I and Iwould guess many would consider non-negotiable truths. However there are some difficultareas and quotes in this study that I have not ignored but done my best to harmonize theseareas that seemed contradictory. I see these apparent contradictions more like temporarily

unresolved paradoxes that when rightly understood are really great and precious truths.

3. CHRIST’S RESURRECTION / GLORIFICATIONCROWNING / PRIESTLY ANOINTING

Former Glory, Splendor, Majesty, Honor, Exaltation,Immortal Life, Omnipresence Reinstated In Heaven

“But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him shouldreceive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not

yet glorified” [anointed/crowned/exalted/reinstated with power] John7:39. (See Heb 1: 8, 9) But here he is!!!!!!! Because He had proven to theuniverse that He “loved righteousness and hated iniquity” He is now“anointed with the oil of gladness” as “a priest forever” Heb. 1:6

“I am the resurrection, and the life” John 11:25 (Bestowed for the raisingof Lazarus. The Father’s life giving power worked THROUH Christ. SeeJohn 11:40-42).

AFTER CHRIST’S RESURRECTION“All power is GIVEN unto [Him] in heaven AND in earth.” Matt 28:18.

“The last Adam was made a life giving Spirit” 1 Cor. 15:45

CHRIST’S OMNIPRESENCE:“And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts,

and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, havingseven horns and seven eyes , which are the seven Spirits of God sentforth into all the earth” - Rev 5:6

Appendix A

“The angels of God are ever moving up and down from earth to Heaven, and fromHeaven to earth. All the miracles of Christ performed for the afflicted and sufferingwere, by the power of God, through the ministration of angels. Christ condescended totake humanity, and thus he unites his interests with the fallen sons and daughters of Adamhere below, while his divinity grasps the throne of God. And thus Christ opens thecommunication of man with God, and God with man. All the blessings from God to manare through the ministration of holy angels .” {RH, January 21, 1873 par. 16}

“The angels of God are ever passing from earth to heaven, and from heaven to earth.The miracles of Christ for the afflicted and suffering were wrought by the power of Godthrough the ministration of the angels. And it is through Christ, by the ministration of Hisheavenly messengers, that every blessing comes from God to us. In taking upon Himselfhumanity, our Saviour unites His interests with those of the fallen sons and daughters of

Adam, while through His divinity He grasps the throne of God. And thus Christ is themedium of communication of men with God, and of God with men.” {DA 143.1}

“When the Jews were informed that it was Jesus of Nazareth who had performed themiracle of healing, they sought to put him to death, "because he had done these things onthe Sabbath day." To their charges, Jesus calmly replied, "'My Father worketh hitherto, andI work.' Through the operations of nature, and by the ministration of angels, God isconstantly working to sustain and bless humanity. I am working in perfect harmony with myFather." This answer furnished another pretext to condemn him. Murder was in their hearts,and they waited only for a plausible excuse to take his life. But Jesus steadily continues toassert his true position. "The Son," he says, "can do nothing of himself, but what he seeththe Father do; for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. For theFather loveth the Son, and showeth him all things that himself doeth." {ST, July 15, 1886par. 8}
