Advancing Cancer Care, cont... Clarion County has one of the highest rates of cancer in Pennsylvania with 292 cases diagnosed each year. Since the Cancer Center opened in 2003, the number of cases has increased by 46 percent according to statistics from the State Department of Health. The Cancer Center at Clarion Hospital has been without equipment and staff to provide radiation treatments for more than a year. In order to restore the service, the hospital must purchase a linear accelerator, the device that directs radiation beams at cancer cells as well as a CAT scanner, an MRI for detecting cancer and a nuclear medicine camera, with a total project cost of $4.2 million. The recent introduction of new specialists to Clarion Hospital has given Clarion Hospital an opportunity to Advance Cancer Care Close to Home.

Robert V. Burns Funeral Home - Successful “Stocking for Soldiers” Campaign

The Robert V. Burns Funeral Home once again participated in the annual Veterans and Family Memorial Care “Stockings for Soldiers” initiative to send the troops a little taste of home for the holidays. They provided free Christmas stockings to be picked up, taken home, and decorated and stuffed with Christmas Cheer. They then shipped the stockings to troops abroad in time for Christmas.

This is the third year collecting the “Stockings for Soldiers” to send to troops overseas. With filled stockings returned, they were able to ship over 300

filled stockings to five units this year. The Knights of Columbus and Women of the Moose Chapter 0014, assisted with shipping expenses.

The Robert V. Burns Funeral home looks forward to their fourth year in 2013. To read a few of the thank you letters received from soldiers, check out their website at www.rvburnsfuneralhome.com/
