Term 4 Week 3 Newsletter 33 2nd November 2018 PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE It looks like our Summer weather has arrived early for us and things are getting very hot at school. I have been very impressed with the choices our kids have been making during lunchtimes, making sure they are in the shade, wearing hats, drinking plenty of water and using the library and computer rooms. It is probably a good time though to check that names are still in hats as they often rub off tags over time. A huge thank you to our P&C for their effort and organisation of the Bunnings BBQ last weekend. It is a huge amount of effort to organise the rosters and all the supplies to the extent that the soft drinks were bought weeks ago when they were on special. We really appreciate the support and the funds raised will be going towards new shelving for our library. This week, our very own Monica ventured to Sydney to compete at the state athletics competition. Racing students who train professionally, run in spikes and were comfortable using starting blocks, our very own Monica did Hinton proud. She not only made it through her heat but also progressed through the semi-finals and into the state final. Congratulations Monica! As the end of year approaches, so does the onslaught of events to overpower your calendars. To help out and give plenty of notice we have locked in the majority of our events. We have attempted to spread the events over the last 3 weeks of school to avoid making the silly season any more hectic than it has to be. As you will see below, we have also moved our Presentation Day to a 2pm start. This is after discussion with the P&C and the aim is to allow parents to only take a 1/2 day off work rather than a full day if necessary. We are also in the process of confirming final details for the Year 6 Farewell with info to come home next week. Carols Night – Thursday December 6 th - 6:30pm start Presentation Day - Friday December 14 th – 2pm Start Activities Day – Tuesday 18 th December Have a cool week! Principal’s Award Tess Wallett

P&C News

Bunnings BBQ

A huge thank you to Rachael Male for coordinating our Bunnings BBQ. Thank you to Clint

Wallet, Brooke Mexon, Scott Spackman, Kate Greedy, Mick Redman, Hayden Carter,

Michelle Irwin, Karin Hines, and Grandmas, Jane Meredith and Caroline Moore, for their help

on the day. We raised $995 to go towards our new library shelving!

Mango Fundraiser

We have ordered an amazing 280 trays of mangoes this year! There are just a few spare

trays available so contact Holly on 0407 899 379 if you would like to secure one of them.

They won’t last long! As soon as a delivery date is advised, we will be in contact with

everyone who ordered.

Our highest sellers were the Connolly, Green and Wheaton families (over 70 trays

combined!) Thanks to Lakeside Leisure Centre and Superstrike for the donation of voucher

prizes and thanks to everyone for supporting our fundraiser.

Christmas Raffle

Our Christmas raffle tickets will go on sale soon (these will also be sold on Carols night and

Presentation Day).

The major prize is a 50” PHILLIPS SMART TV! Valued at $749!!

LIBRARY NEWS

It is great to back in the library at Hinton Public School again! I real-

ly enjoyed my holiday to Canada and the northern USA. I did not see

any moose but brought back a great book, “Looking for a Moose” by

Phyllis Root and Randy Cecil, as a present for our library.

I would also like to say a big Thank You to the Walterback family for

donating some high quality books in excellent condition, including

some Treehouse, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Goosebumps books, as

well as A Dog’s Purpose and other great books. They will be in the library soon!

Keep on Reading!!
