Sunday 27th July 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time Dear Parents, Caregivers and Students, Welcome to Term 3! Monday started with students being very excited and energetic which translated into a good start to the term for students. The Kingham family are away overseas having a great time, we have welcomed Mrs Mandy Hammond to the staff again and I have enjoyed my first week of teaching Science (I’ve finally been able to utilise the my Bachelor of Science!). I am sure like all the previous terms, it will be filled with great learning opportunities and experiences for students. Term 2 ended with a whole school assembly, where a number of awards were distributed. A significant amount of these awards were reflective of student’s achievements in their report. It is important to remember that when a student receives a ‘C’ grade in their report, they are achieving what is expected of them for their age. The report awards are a way of recognising students that have achieved beyond the expectations in a number of different areas - Academic Achievement, Personal Development and Wellbeing and in Application and Attitude. If a child did not receive an award for Academic Achievement, this would be understandable as they need to receive an ‘A’ or ‘B’ grade in 7 out of the 9 subject areas. I compare this award to SAPSASA or State level sport – we acknowledge this success but not everyone is able to achieve it. In saying that, with the remaining two awards, I believe that every child has the capacity to be successful in these areas, especially the Attitude and Application. I believe a child’s Attitude and Application is the most important part of the report. As a Principal and as a parent, I want to know that a child/my child is doing their best despite what the result is. The result indicates the possibility of support required but how can I be unhappy knowing their best is being attempted? Over 60% of students were successful in achieving an award for Application and Attitude, there were also a number of students that came very close to achieving this. Again students needed to receive 7 out of 9 ‘Very Good’ and/or ‘Excellent’ to receive this award, a number of students achieved 6 out of the 9. These awards will also occur at the end of the year. This term we welcome the Hubert family to the school, Trudi-Ann & Galen and their children, Alanah and Emily. Alanah in in the year 1 class and has settled nicely into our school. Take care Mr Lee Abela

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Students,

Welcome to Term 3! Monday started with students being very excited and energetic which

translated into a good start to the term for students.

The Kingham family are away overseas having a great time, we have welcomed Mrs Mandy

Hammond to the staff again and I have enjoyed my first week of teaching Science (I’ve finally

been able to utilise the my Bachelor of Science!). I am sure like all the previous terms, it will be

filled with great learning opportunities and experiences for students.

Term 2 ended with a whole school assembly, where a number of awards were distributed. A

significant amount of these awards were reflective of student’s achievements in their report. It is

important to remember that when a student receives a ‘C’ grade in their report, they are

achieving what is expected of them for their age. The report awards are a way of recognising

students that have achieved beyond the expectations in a number of different areas - Academic

Achievement, Personal Development and Wellbeing and in Application and Attitude.

If a child did not receive an award for Academic Achievement, this would be understandable as

they need to receive an ‘A’ or ‘B’ grade in 7 out of the 9 subject areas. I compare this award to

SAPSASA or State level sport – we acknowledge this success but not everyone is able to achieve

it.

In saying that, with the remaining two awards, I believe that every child has the capacity to be

successful in these areas, especially the Attitude and Application. I believe a child’s Attitude and

Application is the most important part of the report. As a Principal and as a parent, I want to

know that a child/my child is doing their best despite what the result is. The result indicates the

possibility of support required but how can I be unhappy knowing their best is being attempted?

Over 60% of students were successful in achieving an award for Application and Attitude, there

were also a number of students that came very close to achieving this. Again students needed to

receive 7 out of 9 ‘Very Good’ and/or ‘Excellent’ to receive this award, a number of students

achieved 6 out of the 9. These awards will also occur at the end of the year.

This term we welcome the Hubert family to the school, Trudi-Ann & Galen and their children,

Alanah and Emily. Alanah in in the year 1 class and has settled nicely into our school.

Take care

activities. Brekkie gives kids bodies the nutrients they need to grow and develop, and the

energy to play, concentrate and learn.

Well, don’t worry! Breakfast can include almost any type of food – breads, cereals, vegies,

fruit, reduced fat dairy products and lean meats. Try these brilliant brekkie ideas!

Cereal and reduced fat milk with a piece of fruit.

Toast with toppings such as jam or fruit spreads, baked beans, spaghetti, reduced fat cheese and tomato,

Vegemite™ and reduced fat cheese, scrambled egg or banana. Try using a variety of breads like English

muffins, pikelets, bread rolls and different grainy breads like multigrain or wholemeal.

Pikelets or small pancakes with berries or other sliced fruit on top Fresh/tinned fruit salad with reduced

fat yoghurt (plain or fruit flavoured).

For kids who don’t have much of an appetite in the morning, a Fruit Smoothie is a yummy alternative

that will help to fill them up!

SUPER FRUIT SHAKES AND SMOOTHIES!

and they’re good for you! These delicious and healthy recipes are great at any time of day, especially for a
