As teachers, it has been one of the most different terms we have all experienced in our careers in education. We started the term Learning from Home and expected it may be that way for the entire time. However, as the weeks rolled on we started to get the students back. By the middle of May, we had all the students back at school. I acknowledge and thank all parents and carers for your efforts with Learning from Home. I also acknowledge and thank the staff for their ability to adapt to this new way of working. It certainly brought us many challenges. Over the past few days, I have been reading students’ report cards. These will be sent home on Friday. It has been very pleasing to read about the students’ academic progress both when Learning from Home and at school. There are still many celebrations happening in the students’ learning journeys. Yesterday we welcomed Wildfire to Mt St John’s. Their program included live music, a talk, a drama, games, small group time, and a response / reflection time. It was run by a team of Youth Ministry Officers and Wildfire Band members and aimed to enhance our Mission Statement; "Enabling students to live the fullness of life.” The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I heard many positive comments from the students and they were left buzzing from the performance. Pictures of the visit are below:

RESPECT RESPONSIBILITY INTEGRITY SERVICE COMPASSION COOPERATION ENTHUSIASM

Dear Parents,

The end of term is upon us.

If your child would like to order a hot dog, muffin and drink, please return your order form with the correct money enclosed by tomorrow. No other canteen items will be available on Friday. KINDERGARTEN ENROLMENTS – 2021: Do you have a child who has reached the correct age to commence Kindergarten in 2021? Children are eligible for Kindergarten if they turn 5 by July 31 of that year. All children must be enrolled in school by their sixth birthday. If so, we are now commencing our enrolment procedure for these students. To enrol at Mt St John’s, follow these three steps:

1. Collect an enrolment form from the school office.

2. Return the completed enrolment form to school office.

3. Attend an enrolment interview with your child.

Enrolment interviews will take place in Term 3. During Term 3, we will be commencing our transition to school process. This will involve fortnightly sessions with the Dorrigo Preschool. More information will be provided, in early Term 3, once we know that we safely run these transition sessions.

In Term 4, students who are enrolled for 2021 can attend our formal Kindergarten transition sessions. We look forward to meeting our new Kindergarten students soon.

HEAD LICE: There have been a few cases of head lice at school again. If you notice head lice on your child, please treat his or her hair ASAP and notify the school that you did this. The problem with head lice will require all families to be vigilant to minimise the risk of lice spreading. Remember – long hair must be tied back at school.
