Term 1 - Week 9 21st March 2016

Term 1 - Week 9 21st March 2016 Isaac from 3/4C also produced high quality work in writing. He constructed a persuasive text using interesting information and persuasive sentence structure. Edie and Ngurrowin from K-6J continued their excellent learning about shapes in our environment. Last week they found shapes in pictures and matched them to their names and also pasted words into sentences. Great work. HARMONY DAY TODAY Harmony Day is an opportunity to think about how we can celebrate and showcase the vibrant diversity of the NSW public education system. Our students are at the heart of what we do. We educate students from a rich variety of backgrounds and value their diversity. Our school embraces diversity, fosters mutual respect and enhances the self-esteem and wellbeing of our students and staff. Last Friday we enjoyed one of our special Doing Things Together Days. Students worked together in mixed-age peer groups and enjoyed a wide range of activities which promoted getting along, acceptance and making new friends. Thank you to all of the staff for providing such wonderful activities and learning experiences. P&C News Don’t forget that Cookie Dough collection is tomorrow, Tuesday 22nd March from 2-4pm in the hall. The next P&C meeting will be held on Thursday 31st March at 3.15pm in the staffroom. Everyone is welcome! Dear Parents and Caregivers We have a short Week 9 this week and then another short Week 10 next week – making our term fly even faster than usual. Please remember that next Friday, April 1st is school photo day. There is plenty of time to arrange full Summer school uniform including black shoes, white socks and maybe some navy blue ribbons for ponytails! We have been talking a lot about the importance of reporting arguments and/or bullying at our school over the past few weeks. Please follow up this conversation at home. If your child reports any issues with fellow students they should be encouraged to report them to a teacher ON THE DAY they occur. Our staff are 100% dedicated to following up on all incidents and ensuring safe, happy BPS students every day. I am happy to report that we have very few ongoing bullying incidents, but when we do, they are followed up immediately and we appreciate the excellent cooperation we have with parents to help stamp it out. Achieving Our Learning Goals Every child at Bomaderry Public has set specific learning goals which they individually strive to achieve. The achievement of these goals, are celebrated by the student in class and at home as well as publicly via our newsletter. I am very proud of Ryan in K-6J who achieved his goal of being able to sort blue and red items into separate piles, recognising the colours. Great job, Ryan. PLPs (Personalised Learning Plans) Congratulations BPS! After further data collection, and more wonderful meetings with families, we now have less than 20 students out of our 340 total who are still to have their PLP meeting with a parent or carer. Our aim is to have 100% of PLPs with parent input. Please contact your child’s teacher, Aunty Allison Aldridge or Mrs Gemma Tunks if you would like to make an appointment. Quality Work Congratulations to Ethan, Olivia, Ebony and Codee from 5F who achieved high quality work in their Visual Arts lesson with Mrs Tunks last week. These 5F students completed freehand sketches of Thai temples using different artistic styles, concepts and mediums. Jackson and Kylinta from 1C are using spaces, correct punctuation and letter formation in their writing.
