2007-2008 Scholarship RecipientsBenjamin Franklin once said, “An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.” TGEF has found that Franklin’s advice rings true by grant-ing scholarships to gradu-ating high school seniors and college students.

As the black caps race into the air, each student releases a sigh of relief at the completion of their high school education. Al-though for those who take the next step to college the relief is short lived, since they will incur expenses that go along with the adventure.

Since 1982, the Ten-nessee grocery industry has had strong interest in supporting education by granting scholarships to students to help with tuition and other college expenses.

TGCSA members and member’s children who are, graduating high school seniors, college students and graduate students are eligible for scholarships through the education foundation each year.

This year TGEF awarded 131 scholarships worth a

total of $155,700. Stu-dents were recognized at the TGCSA annual con-vention April 15, at Gaylord Opryland, Nashville, TN.

Congratulations to this year’s recipients. With less than one of every four applicants receiving a scholarship from TGEF, these students are truly the best of the best.
