Docent‐led tours of two New York City  special exhibits: "Jerusalem 1000‐1400: Every People Under Heaven" at the Met and "Klimt and the Women of Vienna's Golden Age, 1900‐1918" at the Neue Galerie. This is the last chance to see both exhibits which will be closing later in  January.  

Please note: There will be a considerable amount of walking involved.

History Through Text is a seminar to be offered throughout the year, taught by Rabbi Kulwin. Taught in blocks, each class will also be a stand‐alone unit, so that an inability to a end all (or even most) of the ses‐sions will not be an impediment to an enjoyable and simula ng learning experience.  

Jewish Life In The Middle Ages         Wednesday, February 1, 8, March 8, 15, 22 and 29, 7:00 PM

We began as a people in Biblical  mes and the laws that guide us come from the  me of the Talmud, some 

1,500 years ago. But only a er that, in the Middle Ages did our worship, customs and tradi ons begin to 

take the form we recognize today. What was it like to be a Jew then? Was there always an ‐Semi sm? 

How did they learn their livelihood, what languages did they speak and what was family life like? What spe‐

cial issues did medieval women face? Through a close reading of texts from the period we will explore just 

what it was like to be a Jew during this pivotal  me.
