IT’S SHOEBOX TIME Time to think
‘INSIDE’ the
box.
PRINCIPAL’S PATTER
Hello Everyone
Welcome back to the last term of the year. It’s going to be a busy one,
particularly for our Year 6 students who will be graduating at the end of the
year. We wish them all the best for their final term with us.
I would like to remind everyone (once again) about ‘Stranger Danger’ in our
community and for us all, to talk through and reinforce the following safety
messages with students. Whenever possible, walk with a friend or in a group.
Never take short-cuts through isolated areas. Always be aware of one’s
surroundings. If it is possible, walk facing the on-coming traffic. Never get too
close to cars that stop nearby. Always report any stranger danger concerns.
Our staff continues to reinforce the above messages to the students in the class
room and parents are encouraged to talk to their children about the
importance of these messages. By using common-sense we can all work
together to keep our children safe.
Finally, may I say it’s great to be back and to ‘catch up’ with everyone again.
Many thanks to Mark Cox (Acting Principal) and Robert Croft (Acting Deputy
Principal) for doing such a great job in my absence.
Enjoy your weekend.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD 2019
Thank you to all the students and families who have already
brought in items for the shoeboxes.
Let’s be generous and help a child who has probably never
received a gift to feel the joy that we all experience in being
given a gift. Remember that items must be NEW and for a child
2-4, 5-9 or 10-14 years. Ask your class teacher what age group
the class is making boxes up for. Above all have fun and enjoy giving to others!
Gift items must now be in by no later than the extended date of Tuesday (November 5)
On Thursday 7 November we are having a ‘SHOEBOX DAY’ including:
free dress – please wear the Operation Christmas Child colours of green, white and red for a gold coin donation
sausage sizzle – $3 (food & a drink) on the day.
cake stall – anyone interested in baking some goodies, please see Kanako, Christel or Shoshie or via the P & C Facebook
Information leaflets are available in the office. Thank you for being involved

Tolerance – Virtue for October/November
What is Tolerance? To be tolerant is to accept differences. You don’t expect others to think, look, speak or act just like you. Tolerance is being free of prejudice, knowing that all people have feelings, needs, hopes and dreams. To be tolerant also means to accept things you wish were different with flexibility and patience.
Why Practise It? People who don’t practise tolerance cannot stand to have anything differ from what they want and expect. Tolerance helps them accept things as they are. People without tolerance judge others by the way they look, sound, or dress. They decide who can be a friend and who can’t. When people are teased or left out, they feel sad and lonely. When we are tolerant, we don’t allow differences to drive us apart.
Signs of Success Congratulations! You are practising Tolerance when you:
• accept differences
• are free of prejudice
• don’t complain when uncomfortable conditions can’t be helped
• make others feel included by reaching out in friendliness
• change yourself instead of trying to change others
• accept people the way they are, faults and all
