"FRAGILE"
A woman was mailing an old family Bible to her brother in another state. "Is there anything breakable in this package?" asked the post clerk. "Only the Ten Commandments," the woman replied. (Book of Catholic Jokes and Other Godly Humor, 2nd Edition by Deacon Tom Sheri-dan)
"If you love me, you will keep my commandments."
(John 14:15) Jesus challenges us today. If we truly love him, we need to show it. He did show us he loves us by laying down his life for us. Thus, the greatest symbol of our faith, redemp-tion and most of all his sacrificial love for each one of us. So that it will be easier for us, he even summed up the Ten Commandments into two: the love of God and the love of our neighbor. If our love for him is real, we, too, need to show it through our deeds as we love God and our neighbor. If we don't, then our love is empty. It's all talk and talk is cheap.
"Love is not a feeling. Love is a response. Love is an action." David Jeremiah
What were the two parishes that helped Saint Stephen in her early days? Holy Family Parish in South Pasadena and All Souls Parish in Alhambra helped us through their priests who came to respond to our sacramental needs. Thank you so much Holy Family and All Souls We are so blessed to have a projector and a screen where we find the song we sing. I pray that we really take advantage of this because not all churches have one. Let us truly sing together as one church. "Let all the earth cry out to God with joy!" Please pray for the eternal repose of Margaret Estrada, mother of Deacon Armando. We thank her for all she has contributed to Saint Stephen. May she rest in peace. June 4 will be Pentecost Sunday. The birthday of our Catholic Church. The day we re-member the Holy Spirit descending on the apostles in tongues of fire. Let us then wear something RED on that special day to symbolize the Holy Spirit. We would like to thank The Ibarra Family, Javier, Francine, and Hannah, who has vol-unteered to take the leadership in organizing the Parish Festival this coming October. Our gratitude, too, to the Knights of Columbus who also have committed to serve with the Ibarras. The Knights of Columbus..always "the strong right arm of the Holy Father and the Church." "There is no greater joy nor greater reward than to make a fundamental difference
in someone's life." - Sister Mary Rose McGeady

DID YOU KNOW?
Avoiding gossip
Our natural inclination is to discuss concerns and prob-
lems with the people in our lives, but it can be easy for
these discussions to slip into gossip. When gossip gets
out of hand, it can damage reputations and create divi-
sion and fear, without any discussion of how to resolve the prob-
lem. Teaching your children to avoid gossip and focus on truth
starts at home—as always, parents lead by example. Try not to
gossip about rumors or other people, and teach your children to
seek solutions when there is a problem rather than just talking
about it. For a copy of the VIRTUS© article “How Do I Avoid the
Gossip Swirl?” email [email protected] or call (213)
