7 Commandments of Copyright Online
Responsibility
1. Consider everything as copyrighted
COPYRIGHT
- legal protection granted to the rights owner in an original work
- protected by the sole fact of creation, irrespective of the mode/form of expression, as well as their content, quality & purpose
- duration: in general, lifetime + 50 yrs
Copyrighted works:
Original literary & artistic works- books/writings; plays; music; visual arts; designs; films; ads; computer programs; other literary, scholarly, scientific & artistic works
Derivative works- alterations; collections/compilations of works
Also copyrighted:
- works in electronic form or disseminated through the Internet
- bases: irrespective of mode of expression; WIPO Internet Treaties (updates & improves the protection afforded by existing copyright treaties)
Not copyrighted
- ideas, concepts, principles- procedure, system, method/operation- discovery/mere data- news, items of press information- official text & translation of laws- works of the government
2. Search for the copyright owner

3. Ask permission
Ask permission when exercising:
- Economic rights: reproduction; transformation; sale; rental; public display; public performance; communication

The objective of this session is to inform and inspire the participants to market their products effectively by covering the following subjects: (1) A definition of marketing, (2) The Importance of Segmenting and Aiming at a particular segment, (3) The Critical factor of Differentiation, (4) Some Guerrilla Marketing Tactics, and (5) The Power of Passion in Reaching the Customer. Please also note that the 4 Ps of Marketing are Imbedded in the presentation.
What is Marketing?
• It is the act of attracting your target market to buy your product or service as often as possible
• It involves research, strategies, tactics and activities
• It is like “buying” your customers so that they will “buy” from you
