The first couple months back have been filled with lots of excitement. Staff and alumni greeted students on the first day of school and helped set the tone for a positive and productive year. Each day, students enter the doors ready to take on the day and create a path that will help them achieve their goals . Students have already stepped up as leaders in the community.

On October 22, students participated in a Breast Cancer walk at Cooper River park.

On October 28, the Chowhounds hosted a successful Mobile Vet event. Residents from the city came out to receive free pet food and veterinary services for their beloved pets. Staff came out with their families to support the students.

Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico. Many Camden families, including our own staff, Mrs. Bruno have family affected by the disaster. Staff and students collected relief items for Hurricane Maria victims. Mrs. Bruno traveled to Puerto Rico and the items were delivered to orphanages.

MLB: After Hurr icane Harvey devastated the Gulf Coast, Houston finally had a reason to celebrate. On November 1, the Houston Astros defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers, 5-2 in game 7 of the World Series. This is the franchise’s first World Series win. Outfielder George Springer won the Willie Mays World Series MVP Award. NFL: Week 11 is already here and the next month is sure to be just as exciting. In the American Football Conference, the New England Patriots lead the AFC East with a 7-2 record. The Kansas City Chiefs lead the AFC West with a 6-3. The Pittsburgh Steelers lead the AFC North with a 7-2 record. The Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars lead the AFC South both with a record of 6-3. In the National Football Conference, the Philadelphia Eagles lead the NFC East with a record of 8-1 and the best record in the NFL. They have a bi this week and will face the Cowboys next. The Los Angeles Rams lead the NFC West with a 7-2 record. The Minnesota Vikings lead the NFC North with a 7-2 record. The New Orleans Saints lead the NFC South with a 7-2 record. December is sure to bring more excitement as the teams fight for a spot in the playoffs. NBA: The Boston Celtics lead the Eastern Conference with an 11-2 record. The Houston Rockets lead the Western Conference with a 9-3 record. NHL: In the Eastern Conference, the Tampa Bay Lighting lead the Atlantic Division with a 13-2 records. The New Jersey Devils lead the Metropolitan Division with a 9-4 record. In the Western Conference, the St. Louis Blues lead the Central Division with a 13-3 record. The Los Angeles Kings lead the Pacific Division with an 11-3 record.

It’s hard to leave the school but of course the baby will come first. Taking time off in the beginning of the year will feel like I have to start over when I come back. I’m going to miss all the kids while I’m gone.

How many years have you been teaching at Brimm?

I started at Brimm in September 2011 and was here until June 2015. I left for

two years and came back September 2017.

What would be your job if you were-n't a teacher?

I would still like to work with students. Either counseling or recreation.

What are your expectations for stu-dents?

Mrs. Abrams: I expect students to be leaders. Even though you are freshman, it is the hardest year of high school because if your GPA drops it is going to be hard to raise that grade. You need to stay focused and not get distracted.

How do you balance school and being pregnant?

How do you feel about your transition from 10th—11th grade?

OB: Regular and comfor table. I like all my classes.

LJ: It was smoother than I thought.

What is your favorite subject?

OB: Art

LJ: Science with Mr. Rivera

What do you think about the cell phone policy?

OB: I agree with it.

LJ: I’m glad they don’t take it at the door but ease up with the in-fractions.

How do you think you did on the PSATs?

LJ: I don’t think its useful.

How do you want to do on the SATs?

LJ: I’ll try my best and do ok.

What are you looking forward to?

LJ: I’m excited for Homecom-ing.

Rutgers University, The State University of New Jersey, is a public 4-year research university and the largest institution for higher education in New Jersey. Founded in 1766 and called Queens College, the university has expanded to include three regional campuses. The main campus, located in New Bruns-wick, NJ has five mini-campuses in New Brunswick and Pis-cataway. New Brunswick is accessible by car and NJ Transit. The north Jersey campus is in Newark, NJ and the south Jer-sey campus is in Camden, NJ.

Students can join more than 400 student clubs and organiza-tions, including more than 80 fraternities and sororities. The New Brunswick campus offers many services including health services. Tuition and programs vary per campus. Scholarships and financial aid are offered.
