What changes, if any, do we want to make to our norms?

Respect the time

Stay on task

Be respectful of each other (constructive criticism)

Try to make sure everyone has a voice, especially with big decisions.

Be open to new ideas (entertain ideas rather than closing off)

Focus on solutions

Professionalism (professional use of cell phones, no grading, no side conversations)

Principal-Directed Prep

Wednesdays

ANET Focused

No team/school business

No meeting about specific students (behavior)

No parent communications

What Does a Typical Day in Middle School Look Like?

Entrance Procedures

Middle School students will enter through the door to Multipurpose Room in the parking lot on the Roscoe St. side EVERY day whether its indoor or outdoor morning line up!

Rules are already in place for behavior in this room.

Level 0 must begin immediately after they leave the Multipurpose Room.

Locker Contract

Middle school students must have an approved cell phone application on file for this school year to be able to store their cell phones in their lockers for the entire school day. This includes during after school activities. Cell phones must be turned off while stored in the locker.

The lockers may be searched at any time.

Students are accountable for all items placed in their lockers. At no time should students share combinations with their classmates. It is important to remember that locks and lockers are an individual student responsibility.

Students are responsible for keeping their lockers clean and clear of food, drinks, or trash. Both the inside and outside of the lockers are to be kept clear of writing and personal stickers.

Students must not slam locker doors or bang on lockers as they pass them. Extreme caution must be used to keep locker noise to a minimum out of respect for classes in session.

The assigned times students are allowed to access their lockers is for storage and retrieval of items NOT FOR SOCIALIZATION. Level 0 silence is expected and must be maintained at all times in the middle school hallway.

IF A COMBINATION IS FORGOTTEN, THEY HAVE TO GO TO THE OFFICE!

*Violation of any of these principles may result in the suspension of locker privileges.

Movement in the Middle SchoolLevel 0!

Traveling in lines from destination to destination.

No lockers during a passing period.

No bathroom during a passing period.

Keep the hallway clean.

*We are working on a pass for the Counselor/Social Work, too!

Late Work Policy

To be regarded on time, all work must be handed in on the day it is due and when it is asked for.

Classwork is due the day it is given.

Homework is due within three days of the original due date. However, you may only receive full credit if turned in on the original due date. Thereafter, you may still turn in work late, but the grade will be reduced by a letter grade (or 10%) for each day that the work is late. After three days, late work will not be accepted.

Absent/Late Work Policy

Late Work Policy Class work Homework Long Term ProjectsEnd of Quarter Clause All work at the end of a quarter is due on the Wednesday before grades are due.

Absent Work Students must complete their absence work within two days of an absence, with the exception of long term projects which are due once a student returns. It is the responsibility of absent students to copy down assignments from the board or from another student. It is the responsibility of absent students to obtain work handed out from the teacher and complete it within two days. It is important to note that extended absences may require alternate assignments, so students should really see their teacher for work. The end of quarter clause applies to absent students as well!Prioritize keeping Gradebook up-to-date

Communicate with parents about late/missing work and log communication (Office of Civil Rights and Office of the Inspector General complaints)
