Page 2: Task 4 finished

Scenario:

I am a graphic designer working for the London

based SMART Graphics company. Our new client is

the ‘London Olympic travel company. The company

is hoping to cash in on the excitement surrounding

the 2012 games and promote London as a holiday

destination beyond the games theme self.

I will be responsible for producing materials that they

can use at a coming travel trade fair.

Brief from Client London Olympic Travel: the 2012 legacy

The company is keen to use the interest in London generated by the 2012 games to promote it as a place to come to on holiday, before, during and after the Olympics.

We are looking to create a series of ‘stand out’ images which promote London as a city to visit. These can be landmarks, attractions or even people! But we want the images to be more than just a photo, they will be on display at a coming travel trade show and should stand out enough to generate interest in our stand and company. Once people see the images we want them to be interested in knowing more about London.

Your challenge is to make us a range of these images, in varied sizes appropriate to our trade show need. The smallest image should be A4 and the Largest A0.

Image & aim for it

This is the image that I have edited and the aim for this is to promote

Buckingham palace as it is the place where the queen lives, this

also promotes the historical side of London.

Image & aim for it

This is the original image that I have chosen, the aim for this is to

promote parliament as it is another great place to visit, from previous

experience the inside is a beautiful place to see, I chose this image

because I wanted to tourists to know that this isn't just a boring place

where politics takes place but instead a beautiful place to visit.

Tools to meet needs and client needs

Tool Image Used to…

Dodge tool The dodge tool was used to brighten the

pixels in the picture, I brighten parts of the

sky in the image because the original

image had a very dark sky to it, this was

very unattractive and not promoting

London

Magic wand tool I used the magic wand tool to select

parts of the image and then to change

the selected part of the image by using

the filter gallery, I used this because it

is a great tool as it allows me to

selects parts of the image that I want

and then to change that selected part

to my liking

Filter gallery I used the filter gallery to change selected

parts of image one and two. The filter

gallery is a good tool to use because you

have a wide variety of options to change

your selected pat of the image for example

you can choose the artistic option in order

to make the image look more artistic thus

making the image look better.

Summary of how images have met the

outlined objectives.

Both images have meet the outline objective

because they have been edited to the users liking. I

changed both images in order to make them look

better and to help promote the 2012 London

Olympics. I used specific tools such as the magic

wand tool and the dodge tool select parts of the

image and the brighten the pixels in the image in

order to make both images more brighter.
