Unit 4. Task-2 4. A low cost airline is an airline that offers generally low fares in exchange for eliminating many traditional passengers services. The term originated within the airline industry referring to airlines with a lower operating cost structure than their competitors. Low-cost carriers pose a serious threat to traditional "full service" airlines, since the high cost structure of full-service carriers prevents them from competing effectively on price - the most important factor among most consumers when selecting a carrier.Low-Cost Airlines 5. • High profit to aviation industry as it is attracting the common man to fulfill his wish of flying.
  • Cost effective, employment generation & takes less time to travel.

  • Increase in economy.
  • Major chaos at ticketing counter
  • High consumption of fuel
  • High risk of accidents.
  • More an more profit.

  • Domestic airlines are helping the aviation industry to grow. The regional are spreading into all parts of their countries, especially those areas which were remote and inaccessible to the major airlines. While acting as feeders, they cater to that segment of the population who were benefit of air travel. With increase in flight operations, the civil aviation sector also benefits (which is the part of the industry).
  • The airports are forced to grow along, with the aviation population, more maintenance facilities come on stream and more people find aviation related jobs. These domestics, feed the international airlines with more passengers helping them to progress as well, with increasing payloads.
  • Some domestic Airlines are- Jet Airways, Kingfisher Airlines, Spice Jet, Indigo Airlines, Go Airways, Paramount Airlines.

  • Due to huge competition low cost carriers and full fledged airlines the air fare has reasonably become affordable.
  • Open sky policy has resulted into severe air traffic congestion over domestic and international airports.
  • Due to circling of aircrafts the cabin crews flight limitations are getting exceeded, and hence leading to fatigue and physical stress.
  • With the on sent of the recession the domestic airlines are declining towards cost cutting methods, hence reducing the staff I.e. decline in employment opportunities
