Section 2: Operating InstructionsLand PrideTable of Contents

Section 2: Operating Instructions

Operating InstructionsBy now you should have thoroughly read your Operator’sManual and properly installed your Land Pride LandscapeRake to your tractor. Before you begin raking you shouldvisually survey the work site to make sure it is safe andfree of foreign obstacles. Also make certain that allirrigation heads, utility outlets, and other obstacles areproperly marked.

Please stop and do the above checks and preparations ifyou have not yet done so before you begin to rake. This isa must for your safety and for the safety of others.

Now that you are properly briefed, your landscape rake isproperly installed, and you have properly checked out yourwork site, it is time to begin raking. When transporting ortravelling to and from work sites, make sure that the rake isin the fully raised position and not in contact with theground. Select a safe speed and transport to your worksite in such a manner that faster moving vehicles can passyou safely. A slow moving vehicle sign should beemployed if you are using a public road or right-of way.

Once you have safely arrived at your work site, stop thetractor, lock tractor brakes to prevent rolling, shut offtractor engine, and remove ignition key beforedismounting. Adjust rake angle with the rake in the upposition.

• Changing rake angle left or right will distributeextraneous and oversized material in furrows to the leftor right.

• Adjusting rake angle to be straight across distributesmaterial evenly across the width of the rake with slightfurrowing produced at both ends of the rake.

• Set rake height by adjusting the control lever to the rearnotch if you are ready to begin work. If not, leave therake in the up position.

Remount tractor to make a gear and engine rpm selectionthat will produce a safe suitable ground speed for yourparticular operating conditions.

Begin working with the rake set in the lowered positionunless you intend to travel a short distance without raking. In this situation, leave the rake up to travel and begin workby pulling on the handle to lower the rake. See RakeHeight Adjustment in Section 3 on page 11 for a detaileddescription on using pull ropes for the LRP05.

Additional adjustments may be required to achieve thedesired affect you are wanting. Practice will help toconsistently achieve that desired result you are after.

Always keep safety uppermost in your mind andremember that before dismounting the tractor you mustalways set the park brake, turn off the tractor and removethe ignition key. If you must park on a hillside you shouldalways chock the tractor wheels for an extra measure ofsafety. See “Product Specifications” on page 15 and“Features and Benefits” on page 16 for additionalinformation on performance enhancing options.

Section 3: AdjustmentsLRP05 & LRP15 Rake Angle Raise the rake by first pulling on rope (#6) or by squeezing

Refer to Figure 3-1:Five holes are provided for angling the rake position eitherclockwise or counterclockwise in increments of 7 1/2degrees for a total of 15 degrees either direction off center.

Change rake angle by pulling hair pin (#1) from lock pin(#2), pull lock pin (#2) from pull frame (#3), and rotate rakeframe(#4). Reset lock pin and hair pin after rotating rakeframe.

LRP05 & LRP15 Lever Height ControlRefer to Figure 3-1:There are three notches in the height adjusting plate (#5)for lowering and raising the rake. The rear notch sets therake in its lowest position, the center notch raises the rakehalfway up, and the front notch raises the rake all the wayup.

LRP05 Series are equipped with pull ropes to allow heightadjustment from the tractor seat. LRP15 Series are notequipped with pull ropes due to weight of the rakeelements. Pull ropes can be added to LRP15 rakes by theuser.

handle (#9) upward to release pressure induced by thespring loaded latch (#8) resting in the rear notch. Keepingrope (#6) tight, pull on rope (#7) to raise the spring loadedlatch and continue pulling on rope (#7) to raise the rake.

Lower the rake by pulling on rope (#6) to release pressureinduced by the spring loaded latch (#8) resting against thefront notch. Keeping rope (#6) tight, pull on rope (#7) toraise the spring loaded latch (#8) and slowly allow the raketo lower by keeping rope (#7) tight as the operatorreleases the rope slowly till spring loaded latch (#8)returns to the rear notch. Letting go of the rope too fast willcause the spring latch (#8) to catch in the middle notchinstead of the rear notch.

Use middle notch in the adjusting plate (#5) for makingturns and gently dumping the load on the go.

LRP15 Turnbuckle Height ControlRefer to Figure 1-2 on page 7:Fine tune the LRP15 rake height by adjusting the turnbuckle (#9) connecting the Lift Handle Arm (#7) to the rearaxle weldment (#6).
