Carla Killough McClafferty grew up in the small farming community of Tomberlin, Arkansas, where her parents farmed rice and soybeans. Many long, lazy days of her childhood were spent under the outstretched arms of a giant pecan tree. Her elementary school didn't have a library, using instead bookshelves under the windows that filled one wall of the classroom. Terri Kirk is the librarian at Reidland High School in Paducah, Kentucky and has been a high school librarian for 18 years. Ms. Kirk is the past president of the Kentucky School Media Association and the Kentucky Library Association. She served as American Association of School Libraries (AALS) Division Councilor on the ALA Council before being elected to the Executive Board of ALA. Award winning author, Helen Hemphill … Hailed as “a strong new voice in children’s literature” by Kirkus Reviews, Helen Hemphill grew up in Wichita Falls, Texas and now lives with her family in Nashville, Tennessee and Austin, Texas. Her novel Long Gone Daddy won the Teddy Award for young adult fiction from the Writers’ League of Texas and was named to the New York Public Library’s Books for the Teen Age. Leigh Anne W. Hoover, a longtime Kingsport resident, and children’s author.
