Project 1 Postmortem

When I first sat down to brainstorm what my topic was, my ideas we all over the

place. I grew up a being a huge fan of movies and how they are made, so I had come up

with all different kinds of movie plots since I was a kid. But after watching the Reservoir

Dogs excerpt in class I thought a little more about what I could do with a Quentin

Tarantino movie. I’ve been huge Tarantino fan ever since I saw Kill Bill Vol. 1 and 2

with my dad. He then showed me Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, and Jackie Brown. I was

hooked. Something about his style just made his movies so interesting. I know a lot of

people might be turned off by the amount of dialogue that he has in his movies. But I

think they really do help with the story. I do have to say though, I was disappointed when

I saw Deathproof, that one just didn’t go well with me. But I was a fan of Inglorious

Basterds, even though the ending threw me off guard at first. I thought maybe I can tie

something together, like two guys want to be hit men just like Jules and Vincent. So I

started running with that idea. My first idea was two guys that weren’t tied to a crime

family, they just got hired by one. Then I thought that two guys that were actually a part

of a crime family have a better shot at being hired to take on a hit. So I juggled my story

around a bit. Also when I was finishing up the treatment, I just couldn’t nail the ending. I

had Jerry shooting Guy in the head, but I had different scenarios in my mind. So I went

down the hall to my floor mate’s room. And he’s a good person when it comes to movie

stories, so I figured I’d ask his opinion. After a few minutes of deliberating I came up

with the ending I have now, and I really liked how it turned out. As far as the script went

I really liked it. I wish I could’ve gone on more and I had to cut out some things in order

to keep it with the assignment. I think I’ll definitely come back to it and keep going with

it. Being my first script, I really liked how it turned out.
