She is an educator, international management consultant, and change facilitator with 20 years of experience in launching business and education initiatives across cultures. Karina Jensen is also the founder and principal of Global Minds Network, a consulting and training firm that offers global innovation management solutions. She has successfully launched and managed global products and education programs across Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Americas for multinational organizations such as Adobe, Hyperion (now Oracle), NEC, and Symantec. In addition to earning a PhD from ESCP Europe Business School, Karina holds an MBA in International Business and a BA in Public Relations. Originally from San Francisco, California US, Karina is currently based in Paris, France where she conducts research and performs consulting services for MNCs in the areas of global innovation strategies, organizational change, leadership, and cross-cultural collaboration. THE COURSE Learning Objective To improve understanding as well as application of management consulting practices, processes, and tools for enhancing organizational performance. Course definition (source: CFVG Catalogue) In a competitive world, organizations often hire the services of management consultants for gaining external (and presumably objective) advice and access to the consultants’ specialized expertise. Thus, this course aims at introducing the MBA students to management consulting practices helping organizations improve their performance primarily through the analysis of existing business problems and development of plans for improvement. Methodology

The course will include a variety of teaching methods such as class discussions, exercises, simulations, case studies, multimedia, and presentations. This is an interactive course where you are expected to optimize your learning experience through active participation and knowledge exchange. You are expected to attend and actively participate in every session. If you cannot make a session due to a conflict or emergency, please notify the instructor in advance.

The Professor Will Evaluate the Participants as Follows: Participation / Attendance (Individual) 20% Final Project - Case Presentation (Group) 20% Final Project – Case Plan (Group) 30% Final Exam – Case Proposal (Individual) 30% Participants will be asked to evaluate the course in a form handed out during the last Session.

There are two final projects – 1) a group project that requires the development of a client proposal and plan based upon a client case to be presented in the last session and 2) a case study analysis and preparation of an initial client proposal based upon the information provided within the document. The group project plan should be presented and submitted in the last session; the individual project proposal should be submitted after the last session of the course (date TBD).

Additional information on the exam

The exam or individual project will be an assignment that is completed outside of class, requiring you to demonstrate knowledge of the management consulting process. You will review a case study and develop a proposal concerning the key elements required to effectively address the problem and to communicate value for the proposed services to the client.
