Mind and Body Connection for Emotional Intelligence
Most people equate
health with physical
health and how your
body looks. But to be
truly healthy you have
to have a mind body
connection to create a
balance between
mental and physical
health.
To be really healthy, for the
majority of people, means
eating the right foods, and
doing the right exercise
program, but also being in
the right mental space to
deal with stress and other
hardships that affect us all.
Everyone has emotions, and
everyone has a mind, and both of
them affect everything about our
physical health. No matter what
people think, their feelings are up
to them and they can control how
they feel about something or
someone.
There are a variety of things that can be done for
your mental or emotional health, and they will
bring much improvement to your overall well
being. The following things are some of the best
things you can do to bridge the gap between
mental and physical health.
Get Enough Sleep for Good Emotional Health
It is important to always have enough sleep. The magic number, in order to have a healthy body and mind, is eight hours of sleep. Eight isn't the perfect number for everyone, since some get by just fine with six or seven, while some need more.
With some help from professionals in mental or physical
health, and some of your own experimenting, you can find the
number of hours is right for you. When you have it figured out,
make sure you take the steps you need to take to ensure that
you get that amount every night. Sleeping through the night
and getting the right number of hours can change the way you
feel emotionally and physically.
Start off everyday with something you like.
Spending time wandering through an art
gallery, or walking through a garden have
been known to raise serotonin levels in the
brain, and at the same time lower blood
pressure. This is the physical response that
leads to you feeling emotionally better.
There is beauty in architecture of buildings
or actual art, or you can find beauty in
other people, animals or plants, which
you need to spend time enjoying.
Make More Time For Stuff You
Like
Your mood can be elevated by the inspiration of beauty. Only
you can choose what is beautiful to you. Everyone is an
individual, so there is no reason to expect everyone to have
the same reaction to all things. We all are individual, and we
like different things. One thing that is not different is the
importance of emotional intelligence.
Get More Sun For Increasing Your
Mental Health
Direct sunlight is needed by the
body and you should get some
every day. You need sunlight
every day, for your mental health,
even though you have been told
repeatedly, to avoid direct
sunlight because it will give you
skin cancer.
To help your depression, find
more time to be out in the
sunshine.
Get some sunscreen, put it on, and lay out in the sun for a
while. Once you see how it helps your mood, you will want
to spend more time in the sunshine. Instead of having to
make time to be out in the sun, find things to do outside,
such as walking, or other exercises, being with friends,
gardening, where you get the sun just by being outside.
On the days you can't find
any sunlight, use a UV
sunlight lamp, or even go to
a tanning booth. There are
all sorts of things that you
can do to help yourself feel
better both emotionally and
mentally. Getting better
starts by wanting to get
better, and then by following
instructions given by mental
health professionals or other
advice you have researched,
such as what you have read
here.
