Agenda for today’s session•Overview of how CAT4 assessments will be used in FFT
Aspire to provide FFT GCSE estimates for Year 7 pupils
• Introduction to the Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4) from GL Assessment and how they can support Year 7 transition
• KS2 assessments and cohort profile for Year 7
•Next steps and questions
Using CAT4 assessments in FFT Aspireü With no national KS2 tests in 2020, the CAT4 provides a good baseline for Year 7
pupils
ü Schools using FFT Aspire and CAT4 assessments have asked if we can put CAT4 assessments into Aspire
ü FFT and GL Assessment partnership: FFT already has models for estimating future performance which work using KS2 or CAT4 assessments
ü With CAT4 assessments in Aspire, schools will have the full range of estimates in FFT Aspire to monitor progress and set aspirational targets for Year 7
ü FFT Aspire Pupil Tracking - already available for primary schools and being release for secondary schools at the end of 2020 – allows schools to enter current assessment data for all pupils (standardised tests from range of providers and teacher assessments)

Step 3: Upload your CAT4 data3
Step 2: Download the CAT4 template2
Step 1: Connect your school MIS to Aspire1
How will the CAT4 service work in FFT Aspire?
• Check that your MIS is connected (green tick)
• If not, setup Aspire Data Exchange
• Click on ‘Check for Update’ to sync your pupils
Step 1: Connect your school MIS to Aspire1
Useful hint: you can check that your MIS in connected now
Your pupils will be pre-populated from FFT Aspire (via Data Exchange and your school MIS)
Step 2: Download your CAT4 template from FFT Aspire2
Copy the CAT standardised scores (SAS) into the spreadsheet(you can use UPN to do a vLookup or order pupils)
Save the spreadsheet and upload it to FFT Aspire
Schools can upload CAT4 scores multiple times (Aspire will show latest CAT score uploaded for a pupil)
Step 3: Upload your CAT4 data to FFT Aspire3
Step 4: Look at your FFT estimates for Year 7 in Aspire4
FFT estimates will be updated each week in Aspire based on the latest CAT4 assessments uploaded by schools
FFT estimates for 30 GCSE subjects with average (50), high (20) or very high (5) progress

FFT estimates for Year 7 based on KS2 baselinePrimary schools are submitting 2020 KS2 results (teacher assessments) to FFT Aspire
Where available, these KS2 assessments will be shared with secondary schools
Secondary schools can also upload KS2 baseline teacher assessments in September (in addition to primary schools or to fill in the gaps)
Schools will be able to see estimates based on CAT4 and KS2 assessments
Process for uploading KS2 is similar to CAT4
• Year 6 teacher assessment judgements from primary schools will be provided to secondary schools and pre-populated in this spreadsheet template
• Secondary schools can fill in the gaps or amend the baseline KS2 teacher assessment
Uploading your KS2 baseline assessments
Schools using both CAT4 and KS2 will have GCSE estimates for Year 7 based on either assessment
CAT4 and KS2 are both good predictors of GCSE performance
Using both side-by-side will give you the most rounded view of your pupils

Can I upload CAT4 data more than once for my Year 7 pupils?
Yes, you can upload the CAT4 baseline data multiple times and FFT Aspire will show estimates based on the latest file uploaded
Can I upload CAT data for pupils in Year 8 to Year 11?
The service will just be for Year 7 pupils in the autumn term. FFT Aspire Pupil Tracking (launching at end of 2020 for secondary schools) will extend this service to all year groups.
Will I be able to uploaded data from other standardised tests from GL or other providers?
The service will just focus on CAT4 assessments in the autumn term. FFT Aspire Pupil Tracking will allow schools to enter assessments from a wider range of standardised tests (including CAT4) in 2021.
