Hays automatic valve prod-ucts are much more economicalthan manual systems. In a typical manual balancing sys-tem, circuit balancing valves arerequired at all terminal units aswell as the riser. The system hasto be tediously (=expensively)rebalanced whenever a new ter-minal unit is brought online.

Mesurflo® works to limit flow to a predetermined rate, resulting inmaximum efficiency of a downstream coil or device. It operateswithin a 2 to 150 PSID range. The large free-area opening of the ori-fice yields very little noise during operation.

Under increased pressure the Mesurflo® diaphragm moves moretightly onto the orifice to maintain the pre-selected flow rate. Athigher pressures larger particles may be trapped momentarily, butwhen the pressure subsides, the diaphragm moves back away fromthe orifice seat, and any trapped particles are released. The largefree-area opening of the orifice significantly reduces noise.

The cone-shaped parts on each side of the diaphragm enable asmooth flow of fluid over the diaphragm, then reformation of theflow on the downstream side, to allow non-turbulent flow throughthe pipe.

Cross-sectional illustrations show a typical piping product with aMesurflo® valve under normal pressure and increased pressure.

Under normal pressure the Mesurflo® valve allows steady flowthrough the orifice. The rubber-based elastomeric diaphragmpresses flexibly against a polyphenyl-sulfone orifice with customdesigned openings, allowing small solid particles in the water topass through. As the pressure subsides, the diaphragm backs awayfrom the orifice, freeing trapped particles.
